See trailer in left hand mirror, move TOP of steering wheel to left.

FTFY

Er, I think he had it right the first time Rog!

No, because you’re putting even more lock on doing that. You need to be sending the wheel the other way to take it off.

Really!

Yep.

weeto:
Cue lots of TNUK members checking who’s right, haha.

Already answered. Doesn’t need any checking unless people don’t know their left from their right. :open_mouth: Pretty basic stuff really.

Ok, we will take your far superior word for that!
But, I think gasgas meant the front of the trailer!

A lot of drivers snake when going backwards, the more worked up about it you get the harder you’ll find it. If it all starts getting completely out of shape pull right forward and start again, don’t sit there making big steering inputs to straighten yourself out as that’s likely to make it much worse.

Ha ha! It’s just occurred to me that those instructions were totally useless without saying whether it was the front or the back of the trailer you could see in your mirror…sorry!

well, considering that MOST people are watching the BACK of the trailer to see where it is going, it would be pretty pointless watching the front

Fair point, well made

GasGas:

But still a good tip for learners, when using mirrors, especially when it’s ■■■■■■■ down.

Rob K:
Reversing an artic in a dead straight line is like a black art.

Once youve mastered that, only then can you progress onto a proper wagon and drag!

Hahaha…learned that as a kid hauling two trailers around with hay bales behind a fordson major.

Dont worry about it, even the experienced have good and bad days. The flight attendants dread it when the pilot has had a holiday as his landings will be hard and bumpy when he gets back to work. When i have had time off i mess up too.If there is dip or incline in the bay you sre reversing down in, it gets messy.

There’s a simple way to guarantee both sucess and failure at reversing an artic.

For a successful reverse, no matter how difficult, just make sure there’s nobody watching.

For a complete balls up all you need is a couple of drivers watching and no matter his simple it is, you’ll ■■■■ it up

Until you’ve been doing it a few years, then not only have you got the knack, you don’t get flustered if it starts going boss eyed, you don’t have anything to prove, so the pressure is off and it’ll go in first time, everytime :sunglasses:

Same with blindsiding - you’ll do a ■■■■ hot one first go when no ones around but when people are watching

A bit like trying to pot a dead straight shot on a snooker table.

Cheers Guys
I had been looking out of the window and it seems worse for me - rather than using my mirrors
When I got to Bridgewater - I did a little wobble at first as I keep telling myself left - whoops / blast it’s right, but reversed straight ish and Security were clapping !!!
**About the Homo thing** - Yep Sorry Bud I am one - but luv getting dirty and driving my wonderful auto Iveco and the rather slow Daf CF auto.[/u]
Work take the mick as I drive a hairdressers car covered in Newcastle United and then drive a truck… I mean … Sterotype of a Gay bloke - Mincing Florist or a dancer from Britain’s got talent !!!
I luv my job - working Sunday evening thru to Friday am - Miss tramping but one thing at a time… And I reversed into a parking bay at work, I was so pleased I took photo’s !!!
Hate Wagon and Drag

You should have a go at reversing a box trailer behind a 15M coach.

the more ya put on the more ya have to take off …little quarter turns was best advice I took …mate don’t worry about it weve all been there …just take ya time …one day with out ya even knowing it …it will all click into place

It will come with time and experience, its like riding a bike

I bugger it up the other way.I jump in the rigids at work and try to make the bloody things “bend” the wrong way.

Some body watching me put one over the pit would think I was ■■■■■■■

Its all just practise but saying that some never get it.

But when you do get it you wonder what all the bloody fuss was about.

Main thing is to get it into line as much as possible and give yourself plenty of room eg well forward of where you want to be so you can “tweak” it as you run in.

CHEERS GUYS

Off to work I go - Luv it                  :sunglasses: :sunglasses:
Best Job I have ever had and my salary has just gone up - Thought 18k for Class 1 work plus Fork lift and night work was a bit low.

You’d get more than that stacking shelves in Tesco.
