One thing puzzles me regarding ASDA jobs at Grangemouth and elsewhere come to that , if its such a good job why are they constantly advertising for drivers ?.
People apply for supermarket work and then realise it’s not for them, some find it mind numbing and boring, others can’t handle all the H&S, others finish tramping to do the job and can’t handle not being away all week, I’ve seen it where I work, people leave to go back to what they were doing before and then realise the supermarket work weren’t as bad as they thought and want to come back and then on top of all that you’ve got the usual wasters who can’t keep a job

yeah pretty much as above probably. Drivers probably see some work with a better wage and jump ship, but might not fit into nights (if on them) or even the odd weekend might not end up suiting them. If the family or social life is changed that might not also suit for example kids, wife changing her working schedule, change of location etc etc.
Most drivers tend to jump around until find something that suits them best as possible. from what i’ve generally seen most of the long-term drivers in any sector with any haulage company if treated well tend to be monday to friday day men/trampers. I’ve not heard of many people sticking with a company for a long time on constant nightshift for example if the company works that way, everyone’s different and there is plenty stuff out there to find something suitable hours wise anyway. You get exceptions everywhere obviously but thats my general assumption.

We don’t constantly advertise, we’ve had a Rota change and tried to cut down on agency so that’s the reason we took on last year me being one of them.

Hi BB, are Asda Avonmouth still looking for full time drivers? I’m looking about for a job with better work/life hours. And if so, where would I start with the application process? Thanks for any help.

No Mike they’re not looking at the moment, any applications need to be done online via their website. You could try Culina but not sure they’d want a part timer unless it involved one day on a weekend.
I’ve got an interview and assessment at Asda Didcot on Tuesday.
Heard that the rotas are weird but it’s worth a look.

They’re not weird once you see why they’re planned the way they are, but they would likely start you on a fixed weekend rota for at least the first 6 months & then you can pick & choose, to a certain degree, what time you would like to start at & shift lengths.
Good luck with it.
Thanks for that.
Been told I’m going to be there for around 4 hours. I go in there most days doing deliveries and they seem like an OK bunch.

I did that fixed weekend Rota for about 5 months I’m now off it onto a 45 hr contract the same as the rest of the drivers so just go with it if that’s what you’re offered Steve.
I’ve never done a fixed rota, not even when I first started. Some at our depot do but not many, most are on 11.25 but we’re in the process of changing most onto 9 hours. Either is good.

We’re going the opposite way at Falkirk, hardly any 9hr rota’s will be left & most of us on 11’s. Looking forward to a 4 day week though.
I’m changing from 11 to 9 in 3 weeks and it’s going to be worse. Every other weekend off still but single rest days only so no more working rest days.
It won’t work so we’ll have to be patient until it changes back.

I wanted 11.25 but got a 9 hr rota but i have only been there since December so i’ll wait my turn.
I’d rather be staying on 11.25, it’s not my choice to change.

t, it’s easier to reverse off a main road into a store at 4am than it is at 11am when the roads are full of clowns.
I’ve yet to deliver to an Asda store where you have to reverse off a main road, I’m not saying there ain’t any but must be rare as they all have turning circles or some kind of area where you can manoeuvre easily and safely.
Some of the old Netto stores are not very good
I had my interview and assessment at Burtonwood, earlier this week. I was told there and then that I’ve got a start, but they reckon it will be about 4/6 weeks until I start.
What’s the pay frequency at Asda?
