I’ve noticed some of the Warburtons trunkers now seem to be gas powered DAF CF’s

Warburtons did it years ago.Ken.
Indeed, over 10 infact.
This company has been involved with gas trucks for some time, and supplies many of the fuel stops in the UK and are often seen abroad.

This company supply lng not lpg as the 2 get mixed up the stobart trucks run on lng liquified natural gas or can run on liquid biomethane from waste great idea according to volvo trucks website they are doing trials in the uk ie stobarts and in sweden and are looking to bring production line duel fuel gas trucks to the market this year but where do u get the gas from?
My firm runs both gas and Hybrid trucks fascinating tech especially the Hybrids
About 5 years ago I was toying with the idea of buying a new 7.5 or possibly 12 tonner.
I went to the Commercial Vehicle Show at the NEC. (A good day out if you’re interested in transport).
I looked at the 7.5/12 tonners on display from the various manufacturers.
I wanted:
Double sleeper with high roof.
Rear air suspension.
Gas or dual fuel options.
Not one manufacturer was able to offer what I wanted.
Talk of Hatcher roof pod conversions, this, that, n the other, but no gas option… even though I’d recently been given a lift in a MAN 7.5 tonner running on gas!
drove both trucks at shotton. soon as the gas gets near half way it derates it self so your stuck on 50 km till you fill up. only three places were you can fill up. 300ltr on the derv bit of waste if you ask me. but its the carbon footprint/ low tax.

Now who is mixed up. A diesel will not run on LPG without a spark and you would probably knock the bottom end out even if you could fit plugs.
LNG And CNG are the gases supplied by Chive. Methane is a natural gas too occurring in swamps and landfill tips.
In the East Midlands we have a modern gas bus working in the airport.

Coca Cola, Sainsburys and Tesco are already running this system too.

I believe you are talking of gas fumigation which can make a diesel run smoother, but not sure it does anything for economy.

Keystone (who do the McDonalds work) don’t use LPG at all…they use Bio-Diesel. Their Bio-Diesel is made from cleaned up oil from the deep fat friers at their restaurants. It used to cause a big problem for them as it kept on congealing as the company who made it didn’t use enough anti congealing chemicals in it…but now its fine…but to put it simply, its just clean out chip pan fat
im sure some of the mc donalds daf cfs trucks that used to park at lesmahagow truckstop had gas LPG conversions on them as i was talking to a driver on for them

Well it certainly isn’t like that at the Basingstoke depot…They may have a couple of converted units on trial at another depot but I’ve never heard of it…but don’t always believe what the drivers say. After all…lots of drivers believe AdBlue is actually made from sheep wee lol But look for a sticker on Keystone units as they love to publicise how ‘green’ they are to the public by putting info on their units.

I used to work for them earlier in 2010 through an agency so I’ve never been employed directly by Keystone…but sometimes you will have to do nights out…only once or maybe twice a week, but its only 1 night out at a time. Usually you’ll do 3 to 6 drops in deepest cornwall or deepest west wales and night out on your way back to the depot…then the next morning you’ll only be driving for about 3 or 4 hours back to the depot, have a 45 min break then go and do another run of about 7 hours or so…once you get used to having to organise your trailer, its actually not a bad job and the night drivers are on 34k I think.

They are correct. AdBlue, or to give it its non trade mark name, Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is roughly 30% concentrated animal urine [urea] (mostly pig) 70% water + blue dye.
Urea is also used in nitrogen based agricultural fertilizers and its what aircraft wings are sprayed with at airports to de ice them.
