I used to park regularly in gent in the haven. Didn’t venture far though to be honest. Antwerp is good for a night out and only about €6 on a train from lokeren.
I’m broad minded but some of the sights in the windows there :open_mouth::shock::grin:

JB, if you didn’t slide off too early you would have earned more wages, lol, and for being tired after that shift yesterday, give me a break.

I’ve PM you JB

When did they get rid of all the FH’s on low riders ? and why■■?
Used to see loads parked up in Hawleys Lane when i was on working for Woody…

They’ve still got around 12 or 13 mega’s on euro chipliner work. 08 plate topliners. And “reccymech”… Pmsl shut it.

Is it actually “tramping” work or just constantly repeating the same set of runs to Germany to the same few bases and then reloading back to keep repeating or can you litterally be going anywhere? Germany one week, Austria the next, Spain the next and anywhere in between? One of the lads I work with here in Canada used to do a Stobarts job and all he ever did was go to British bases in Germany and back, and sometimes a few Lokerens to Germany and so on but never anything else, it all seemed very repetative and certainly not what I’d call “tramping” as that implies that you could be going anywhere at a moments notice.

Jb, very interesting post, I very much doubt many euro drivers are earning much more than that doing Europe and plenty earning 450/500 all in for max hours to make the job fit, I run a few lorries subbing for whoever has a load and I tell you now, I couldn’t pay that and stay in business for long. I know of plenty of fridge men paying 500 a week in the bank and wanting men to chap on…

And as for treating stobart men with contempt, I used to work with a 2 fellas who ended up at stobart and I reckon there ain’t many gobby ■■■■■ on here who could fill there boots. One could rope and sheet an awkward load like it was heat shrunk on, tony Ellis was his name and the other was on the euro side, mike from maryport although I did hear he parted company with esl a while back… Both quality men…

Jb, are you the bald headed coot :open_mouth: with the glasses and the goatie? :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: who’s in the office at hawleys lane? Paul Taylor still? :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: thought your pay rise made £7 :sunglasses:

Bald with glasses Yea. No goatee though numbnuts. Pmsl. And I don’t work in any office.

Oh yeah love their old livery on Belgian plates lowrider Volvo FH with Megaliner Curtainsider " International Logistics" It’s looks very smart and part of European work than today new livery!

JB - Thanks for your sharing post and it is very interesting also fact points!

Have seen them a lots on Lokeren - Venlo - Dortmund motorway so have they ran to Southern Germany or further east than Dortmund ie Hamburg or Berlin?

Saaamon:
do they have many euro jobs going then?

if that’s what they are paying I would imagine they have loads of jobs going
nobody in there right mind would work as a class 1 driver away all week and weekended for that pay rate

That pay is a disgrace in this day and age for the level of responsibility.

JB:
Oh and you have to prepare yourself for other drivers Not flashing you in

I have worked for Stobarts 4 times at Tesco Widnes. I can honestly say in the 40 odd hours I’ve driven their trucks that I have a 100% rate when it comes to being flashed in on a motorway. When I first done it I’d heard about the ‘animosity’ and thought I would see how bad it was but I can truly say that if anything people in both cars and trucks seemed a lot more curtious to me when I was driving the Stobart truck. That’s true that is !

Voodoo1, you would be surprised ! You would be fine as at first you are constantly thinking about staying on the correct side of the road. The problem actually comes when you come back to blighty, you spend that long thinking about driving on the right and then boom, you have problems not thinking about what you’ve always done naturally haha
