Nice informative posts by JB. I suppose if Eddie Stobart stated the pay rates listed with the jobs advertised then there wouldn’t be all this mystery.

IN LINE WITH DRIVERS RATES OF PAY WTF
JB:
No. They didn’t.
ok jb, I stand corrected, but there does seem to be a lot of ex esl trampers on here who did get made redundant
Congratulations jb on sticking your head above the parapet! Likewise, it gets boring hearing the same “you stobart scum/you can’t drive for toffee/green death…etc” time and time again.
UK tramping… I bank about £600 per week for Monday to Friday. But, but…that’s on a chipliner and i’m on an old contract (6 years) so don’t know how it stands for new drivers.
JB:
I do work for them on international yes. It’s more than £6.75 per hour. But let’s be honest. If I said it was £15 there would still be the “i won’t get out of bed for that” brigade. All I’m concerned about is my take home pay. Which for the last two weeks was £646 and £541.
You don’t earn that for nothing of course. I’ve had to put the hours in and had a weekend away. A normal week for me involves running uk then out to Germany delivering around the army camps. Cages via tail lifts into naafi. Reload frozen usually back to lokeren. Then have your time off and ready to run back to Germany. Weekends away can be either up in an Autohof somewhere in northern Germany, Asten truckstop in Holland, our yard in lokeren. (sky TV, cooker, fridge, washer tumble dryer etc), or in the uk dependant on what type of work your doing. The walking floor lads usually load around the south with wood chip for Spano in oostrozebeke. Reload mechelen back to the uk.
It’s not for everyone. The trucks are clean but basic 440 highline scania. All international motors are fitted with 2100 watt invertors.
Despite popular belief, we aren’t all nobheads who think we’re above everyone else. And when you hear it time after time it does get boring. I’m a normal driver who’s worked elsewhere and just do it because it’s a job.
That’s your lot. I’m not getting drawn into any arguments or [zb].
Good post!
How do you go about getting on international with them, do you have to work your way up?
No, they will take you on if they think your ok. Have you any euro experience? Maybe you’ve loads but the firm “went bust” so you can’t supply references…
good post JB …

Only a limited amount in a van… Ahh i see, one to remember lol.
It’s far from the best job in the world. But it aint the worst either. It’s all legal. The money is always in the bank (not always bloody right though)
The planners do there best I suppose… Pmsl
There making it clear from the start that as an international driver (puddle jumper more like) that you Must be prepared to be away for three weeks “when work load requires it”.
Oh and you have to prepare yourself for other drivers looking at you like your dog ■■■■. Not flashing you in and generally making you feel like a leper.
Good luck lol
dont see the attraction of working abroard firm imm with offerd it to me and i declined still each to there own

Jb and happy sack have answered your question on wages above,£600 in bank each week,
JB:
The trucks are clean but basic 440 highline scania.
JB, why is it you have highlines when you do Euro and can be away for 3 weeks, when theres all the UK only motors running around in Toplines/XLs??

I don’t get why drivers treat esl drivers like that, I flash anyone in and say hello to anyone, its there problem if they don’t acknowledge me, ■■■ em

Just a guess, but would it be because of height? Im guessing that not all countries have the same minimum clearances? Though I seem to remember that ESL does the same as ND and gets foreign spec machines in, so smaller wheels and stuff.

I don’t know mate. We were told it’s because we’re run as a separate part of the company and there’s little money in the pot. I tell ya what though. It bugs the ■■■■ off me and will probably be one of the reasons I leave.

No it’s not the height nick. The units sit lower than the trailers. Regardless of highline or topliner.
Sorry for some reason I thought I’d read “nick”. Tired my excuse.

No probs, I am Nick! I am also knackered BJ…
JB,
how long you been there for?, i remember the internationals parked up for the weekend at crick and then met a few at lokeren when i went on euro work for another firm a few years ago. they still didnt seem happy then
they opened up tesco chesterfield when i was there and put the international lads on the job to cover it. a lot of them didnt want to go back on euro
