Steve's pictures

I like the W9, don’t get me wrong, especially with an 84" studio bunk, but next to a 379 they’re not quite in the same league, the lines of the Pete are so much cleaner :sunglasses:

Cabover’s now that’s different I would have a K100 Aerodyne over anything else because of the extra cab space, but even then, the 362 Peterbilt is the better looking truck

Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy :unamused: Mack’s are ok as dustcarts or a gravel truck, that’s it though :open_mouth:

huffffff,& concrete mixers ,lol, you better not say that near our yrd ,they eat and breath mack trucks.
they even have a 6x4 b61 (quad box) reconditioned and fitted with a bldy big compressor.
the mechanics ,mixer is a 69 reg 8x6 (twin stick)still on original clutch .and used every yr for at least 6mnths…
lol jimmy.

I’m personally a KW man, but thats because I think the trucks look better, regarding the W900 and the K100. The 387 and the T2000 thats a debate. But one thing i shall say the T700 looks a bit of a truck that couldnt peel the skin of a rice pudding!

But it’s all personal preference. And don’t even get me started on freightliners, Only decent one out of them was the Coronado and the Classic. But having not driven them yet, I won’t know. But i’ll have my day !!! :grimacing:

Cheers

Jonny :sunglasses:

Edit: For the record, Kenworth have been around longer than peterbilt so it makes you question who copied who  But they’re all under the same company just different badges and slightly different shapes. But same idea more or less

Great pics Steve, do you have them on Flickr anywhere?

No sorry Mick i don’t, this is the 1st time i have put them anywhere except fb and emails to England

Shame, there’d be a lot of interest if they were added to some of the trucking picture groups on flickr, especially with your descriptions to accompany them.

Go to any truckshow and the vast majority of the show trucks are Peterbilt, that tells its own story, although Jimmy can be safe in the knowledge that one bloke has a Mack Superliner all tricked out, he does quite well with it too, Freightliners are as you say, crap, even the Coronado if you compare it to a W9 or a 379, the Classic is plain nasty inside too. They all looked good to me when I first came over, I had a sore neck from doing double takers as I saw all the big yanks, then you get used to them, now I don’t even notice a truck unless it’s something a bit special, for me that’s an outlaw style flat top 379 with a spread axle reefer, but each to his own, be a boring world if we all liked the same thing

JIMBO47:
petes an kdubs shame on you lol, mack ch 316 by a long way the most reliable truck ive driven in canada ,not to bad seating neither…
the mack made a lot of newer trucks look bad when on my month hauling gypsum from amaranth —golden stream r/r siding…
jimmy.
nice pics steve ,will have to carry my camera when back at work (■■■■ restrictions).

Jimbo, how long ago were you hauling the gypsum from amaranth to gloden stream? our yard is only 2 miles from where you tip… 1 mile west and 1 mile north, you can see the yard from the siding, just ask george next time your in there, and he will tell you.

Here you go Mark, We have since sold this 08 389, we got it as a write off, had the bunk completley off, put on new roof, rear panels, right side panels, i had the bunk stripped down to a skeketon, also did all the right side of the cab. twisted frame which was sorted in wpg, had the ■■■■■■■ isx. we sold it to an o/op on our firm who then sold ot on.

Saturday morning larking about with an old John deere

IMG_1545.jpg

High and wide, pulling the seed drill, had to go back to the dealer twice for upgrade and warranty work, only as far as neepawa thankfully! you manitoba boys know the lights at neepawa, i have to straddle them as it is too hgh and catches the overhead lights, have to do an s type sort of manouvre to get under, also same thing at the rail tracks at gladstone with the overhead lights. ok if no one coming towards me at neepawa!! only have the truck brakes ,nice mack eh jimbo, hard to beleive it.s 17 yrs old

If anyone is interested you can get a better look at pulling the drill on you tube, go to Lynxfire777 and see “steves mack pulling seed drill” you have to wait a minute to come in view and forgive the wind noise and shaky hand, my young son took the shot and was his first time.

This is another o/op truck, the same guy who had the blue one also had this 379 pete

This one was seen in another pic, but the 78 ford behind it has a story, it was once owned by an an english guy here, ( sadly passed away now ) we had it as a tractor unit then converted it for liquid fertilizer, last spring i was taking it to the drill in the field ( by the way it had a 350 ■■■■■■■ ) now some of you may know or have heard from older drivers how an engine can over run if the governer in the fuel pump quits, beleive me this is true, it started to over rev and just kept going, as the pump is in overdrive and the engine in self destruct mode you can’t just simply turn the key off as it does nothing, i lifted the hood with the hope of pulling wires off the pump… still revs higher and higher, try to find bit of ply wood or something to starve it of air, none handy, no fuel shut off, look for something to pull fuel lines off…nothing, by now black smoke 30 foot in the air, old ■■■■■■■ sounding more like concord, BANG then she is silent with a rod through the block, she has since had a transplant , and due to be started this week after standing outside all winter.

Agree with you there, but surely if the vast majority are peterbilts it must get bloody boring looking at the same truck in a different style. Then again that’s like going to the truckshows over here and the vast majority all you see is Scania’s and DAF’s which to be honest gets boring, It’s like when I went down to the yard where my dad works out of to get pictures of the Prestons of potto trucks, 3/4 of there trucks are scania’s and to be honest it gets boring. Half the reason why I look forward to truck shows a bit of originality. Even tried sending my pictures to T&D but they wern’t big enough apparently, but I haven’t a clue as I’ve never sent pictures of mine to a magazine to be put in. Would be a bit of a boost in confidence as a photography student! The Coranado i like because i think it looks good inside and out, but against the W9 or a 379 like you say they don’t compare. Personally I’m a fan of the W9 but that’s because I preffer how they look to a 379, but I must admit those that trick trucks out and not work them, in my eyes is a waste of a truck but maybe that’s because I’m old fashioned

& The perfect american combination would probably be a Kenworth W900 thats black and has ALOT of chrome on it pulling a tanker. Now that in my eyes would be a good sight to see. :grimacing:

lol,yup know where you are ,meet grain trains coming out onto 16 from your farm.
was hauling just oer 4wks the rain we got on wednesday was enough to make 61&78 more than interesting especialy following ebd convoys lol.
was living in gladstone at the hotel rooms behind the co-op 5days a wk,the least said about that the better :unamused: :open_mouth:george is a good ol boy ,certainly knows his stuff, only got 30thousand tonnes in (wanted40),think ebd & doell did a load or two on friday just to clean up pile at quarry.hopefully be back in november… here a pic of the old girl i drive

Jimbo, seen the truck lots of times, ha ha ha you stayed at the hotel rooms…lots of company there then!!! i stayed there on a recce trip i once made here, different kind of clientel there at that time, think there are lots of hog plant workers there at the moment. I guess we should have spoke sooner, at least we could have gave you a decent hot meal, not too much to choose from in town after dark. i will pm you my contact numbers for next time, i live just on the north side of the town. following EBD would be like something out of that old film “Hell Drivers”!! go go go. where are you based at?

Didnt realise any of the expats still put their names in the windows over here… Not once seen any of the natives with a nameboard in the window …

Started the old ford today plugged the block heater in for a couple of hours and fired on the button! had been sitting since november, had a bit of blown snow to move out the way and drove her into the workshop!

Johnnytruckfest, was at a place yesterday to collect a flat deck, in the workshop was a black W900, just had a new bunk put on owing to a jack Knife, frame had all been sand blasted and painted and they were just putting the fuel tanks on, sorry i had no camera with me, do you live near northampton, mate of mine has a smart looking aerodyne there.

Venture further than the Edmonton area and the QE2 and you’ll be shocked at the big wide world out there BJ, all kinds of weird and wonderful stuff goes on

I’ve seen quite a few name tags in the windscreen, not just Brits, the Eastern Europeans do it a lot, as do our American Cousins, they also like to have their whole family’s names written over the side of the bunk, that’s if there’s enough room after all their safety awards, 250000 miles safe driving, 500000, 750000, 1 Million etc, don’t look so good on a motor with the side extender fairings on the bunk all caved in though

Hi Big Jon, i have seen lots of name plates, always had mine with me, used to have it bolted to the front of my truck with two Atkinson silver Knights, can’t find them pictures yet, now i just put the plate in the window.
