As I didn’t get an answer to my question about 2nd hand EV prices, I did a quick Google and it seems half a dozen of the top brands averaging out at around £12,000, with one little Fiat costing about £6,000.
Far too much for me but then I am not typical in that, legislation aside, at least one of my cars should see me out without the need for a replacement.
Oops, apologies I missed this. Yes, those are about the right prices for the cheaper end of the EV market. I watch Jonathan porterfield’s live auctions with Kona’s, Nissan Leaf’s & Renault Zoe’s.
Make hay while the sun shines mate, because when they do ‘force’ us ALL to drive these things, do you think for one second they will not capitalise on it…big style?
Do you think they will just write off all the revenue they could have continued to rake in from the sale of conventional IC engined cars?
Not a chance in hell, the present ‘cheaper option’ is merely a carrot on a stick…make no mistake.
Yes but the other side of the, to me, fairly high prices of 2nd hand EVs, rapidly coming down, is the fact that if you do buy one it has a rapidly depreciating value.
I wonder if diesel and petrol will gradually get taxed to death? I think 20 ciggies were about a £5 when I quit, can’t even see the prices at the back of the kiosk anymore!
It’ll probably be in 2027 when the ETS2 kicks in, companies that sell products with emissions (big oil) will have to buy carbon credits on that ETS2 market to pay for the downstream pollution it causes.
They say it won’t be the end user that pays, but I wonder how long that will last if big oil is paying out £ millions in carbon credits.
20 woodbines were around 4 quid when I stopped smoking, I dread to think what they cost now.
It starts next year but doesn’t become law until 2027.
About £16 for 20 Marlboro and almost £40 for a 50g pack of Drum tobacco, if you buy over the counter.
Or around £5 and £10 if you can get them duty free.
Just my preferred brands. Other cheaper ones are available along with nasty knock off stuff.
not long ago was in my local co-op noticed a thin gent buying a bottle of spirits ,as he got to the counter theyd got his [pre-ordered?]weekly? stash of fags ready for him, looked like 10 packets ,it all came to £176 .!
Air devoid of CO2 ain’t clean.Reducing CO2 by implication means reducing oxygen and vice versa.Especially when they’re burning trees and covering and killing our fields with solar panels and distribution infrastructure all to run a whining EV.
But I can live with a 600 hp F Pace or Disco, or a rear wheel drive XJ, EV on PCP and won’t be around when these Muppets no longer have any oxygen to breathe or the fields left needed to feed themselves.
Would anyone actually buy a 3 year old mobile phone at all ?.
Having said that my old Nokia 8.3 is fine working as good as new.
I use it instead of a crap laptop home computer and for all my work communications.
You seem to think that crashing the European automotive industry is a good thing.
Also who do you think will pick up the tab for the worthless PCP and lease returns ?.
In addition to all the other resulting negative equity tied up in HP sales. In addition to the unemployment bill for the redundant workers.
