Steering wheel adjustment

Why don’t all the truck makers have the steering wheel rake adjustable like Scanias? The car like angle- towards the driver makes for a far more comfortable driving position in my opinion

Which ones don’t??

Daf steering wheel comes nowhere near as far down as Scania…Scania is definitely the most adjustable steering wheel of the major manufacturers

LMAO, scanny driver needs to be able adjust it that much so he can hide behind his frilly curtains.

and a daf and volvo are perfect for me, proper angle, i dont want a truck wheel to be at the same angle as my bloody car

thats why every time i overtake a scania it looks like its on autopilot because the driver is hiding with embaressment

I like the volvo FM steering wheel adjustment, on the foot pedal. At least compared to the ■■■■ poor adjustment on a DAF XF. Not driven anything else.

Having said that. The volvo FM wheel needs to move that much in order to undo your shoe laces, as the seat hardly moves back at all. Whereas in the XF you can slide back quite a bit to give a decent amount of space.

Seen some trucks (just a random observation) that can move the steering wheel very high and out of the way whilst not driving. A good feature.

[EDIT] Of and if you think any of the major manufacturers have poor adjustment on seat or steering wheel you should try an Isuzu :open_mouth:

I too think the Scania has the most comfortable driving postion, seat down low at the back, up at the front, wheel down in your lap, backrest at 45deg, extremely comfy, the only drawback is that you have to lean right forward to look at the crumpet :sunglasses:

BTW I hate frilly curtains, I never used to have them pulled across the window either :smiling_imp:

Spot on  The driving position, mirrors, dash controls etc streets ahead of other makes

I hate the mirrors and the seat and the bed on Scania’s, uncomfortable bed and seat, and mirrors that belong on a much smaller vehicle, or they need to narrow the fairing on the cab a touch, a few times I’ve had to move my head to see if my trailer’s still attatched.

I prefer the steering wheel flat, makes it easier to read the Sun.

and the noodles do not all end up in your lap on the motorway :stuck_out_tongue:

You must be a midget then, cuz because of that stupid big OTT sunvisor I can’t see anything on overhead gantries unless I dump the air out of the seat and drop it right down to the floor, think the original series 4 cab was designed by an Italian car stylist, says it all really :unamused: Merc Actros Megaspace, MAN XXL or Volvo FH cabs far better place to work :sunglasses: . A lot better for the posture to sit upright too, no wonder Scanny drivers complain of bad backs and aching legs :grimacing: .

I can’t agree about the MAN TG-XXL its like driving round in a greenhouse, we had one on our fleet and the driver was of average height but he couldn’t reach the top of the windscreen whilst driving its so high up
