Splitter skeli trailer tips

I’m gonna start using a splitter skelli trailer soon , I’ve worked out the basics that it’s 2 trailers in one and what or not to pull or push
Any tips on how to make my life easy please
PS I’m getting shown tomorrow at work and yes being paid for it

Well I hope you get some interesting replies because I have only seen them in pictures and would love to know more. Long after my time, obviously. :grinning:

Best of luck for tomorrow, and don’t forget to sneak a pic or 3.

I’ve never used one, but I’d say that if you are driving and see lots of sparks in your mirrors it’s a fair bet you’ve dropped a clanger :+1: good luck anyway

strong textAsk your Co Worker he may be able to help lol How long you back for???

Thanks for the replies
And mr euro mountain range don’t bother replying you’re on the ignore list

Only ever seen them reduce grown men to tears, trying to get them apart, put them back together, trying to remember where you dropped the 1st half, then finding it and some **** has parked a car in front of it, getting back to the dock and then remembering you should have collected the back half on the way(it will still be on the bay where you left it that morning 'cos the shunter can’t move it).
Don’t let me put you off it though, I’m sure it will be fine. Slow and steady, level dry ground and a good waterproof jacket are all that are needed

Blimey, I really want to know, and see, more now. Pictures please.

Thanks SDU, quite a bit to remember with a trailer down on its knees and/or some busted suzies if you forget something. Can’t help feeling that a wagon and drag wouldn’t be better such as the ones I introduced at Toray. We could swap the bodies from wagon to trailer (and back again) as well if the situation demanded. :joy:

I’ve only ever seen those jiggers on YouTube, never seen one here. Might be a bit of a problem with 30 tonne boxes. :scream:

Very little time lying on the bunk with it being a 20 foot
Could be a handy day if the dropped trailer was close for pickup after tipping
Looks straight forward the split

Difficult dropping a 40’ or 45’ on a wag ‘n’ drag

In theory, yes, BUT poor maintainence, bad ground, wet road/yard, uneven surface, uneven loading, some prick distracting you half way through can all reduce you to a bubbling wreck. That’s why I would never use one but I have always to tried to mop up the tears of those who were :sob: :scream:

Then the penny dropped.

Seen that video

Same principle as dropping a draw bar trailer, except for remembering to drop the extra axle. plus on a draw bar the airlines etc stay with the trailer.

Is it a Dennison Splitter?

The one in the vid is, yes.

Sure fact it would not be a Dennison Tractor Unit? because he would not get it out of the yard lol

Why would he not get it out of yard?
