split rest

right aint done my Dcpc yet so can anyone answer this last wednesday after a 11 rest i drove to loading place but was told it would be at least 4 hours before load was ready so went and parked in a truck cafe for 3hours and 45 min tacho on bed
now on a split break so far so good,
got loaded and then went to the ferry at the Hook had another 3 hours REST on dock waiting to board boat so far so good too.
ferry mode selected drive onto ferry.
back on to rest went up for dinner shower sleep etc , truck was on boat for just over 8 hours on rest

now the question is did i still have a reduced rest or a full one?

Now I don’t do boats but I would hazard a guess that it would be a full rest but tacho or JD will put you right

Lets keep it simple and for the time being forget about the 3 hours 45 minute rest you had in the cafe which could make a split daily rest period.

You had 3 hours rest on the dock then drove onto the boat and had another 8 hours rest, assuming that you had at-least 11 hours actual rest during those two rest periods (sounds like you did), not including the time spent driving onto the ferry, and assuming that it was all within the 24 hour period from the start of the shift you certainly had a regular daily rest period and not a reduced one.

So I suppose the question has to be, did you record a total of 11 hours rest during those last two rest periods and was it within the 24 hour period from the start of the shift ?

If the answer to those two questions if yes then it was not a reduced daily rest period it was a full daily rest period.

Only a full 11 hour daily rest can be interupted by ferry movements

As Tachograph said, that 11 hours including movements must fit with the 24 hours from when the shift started

thanks
yes they did fit in 24 hours started shift 0745 on break from 9am till about 1230 at ferry port about 1645 off boat 0400 about a 10 min movement on to boat
