NOVE:
Yes. That’s what happened when I got done. Be warned though, some forces don’t allow you to do the course in another area. I got done in Liphook, closest course I could get was at a hotel in Basingstoke (I live in Cheshire)
Luckily the hotel in question was one of my drops. I’d mentioned it to the guvnor that I’d been done, and was looking into doing a course down there. He asked me to keep him posted (which naturally I forgot) so I just wanged it on break, and got paid for the privilege of taking the course. (Handy that I always nail 95% of my drops on day 1 of my 2 dayer.)
Thanks for that, NOVE - my fate is now in the hands of Norfolk constabulary, so i`ll have to wait and see what the incestuous turnip-heads are going to offer me!

Don’t pay it if you don’t think your guilty mate. Ask to see photographic proof first if your not convinced.
Its not that i don’t think I’m guilty (suddenly i hate that word, GUILTY!!) just miffed that after travelling to and from Plymouth/Wigan for the past 3 weeks, i get caught out on a average speed check camera!!! Especially when all the other roadworks are set at 50!
Have also noticed several contradictory road signs along that route, i.e. day time traffic signs (for the rush hours i presume) often left in view alongside what i can only think as the evening roadsigns whilst workers are present.
Im not making excuses (Well, maybe i am!) after all i was caught! Just still smarting after a 15 year clean driving licence!!!
So even though you’ve been travelling through those roadworks for 3 weeks you have completely failed to notice what the speed limit is. Right, okay… There are a ton of “40” signs on the approach to both sides and a similar amount placed throughout the actual roadworks. If you are too blind and stupid to notice them then you deserve everything you get and more. The sooner that thick [zb] like you are off the roads, the better.
A slight digression I know, but can someone please tell me why the Highways Agency seem to take delight every night in setting the variable speed cameras (money-making scheme) on the M42 & M6 to 40mph just for one gantry for no apparent reason? It’s 1:37 AM, virtually nothing at all on the road, no roadworks, but someone at HA HQ obviously takes great delight in seeing us all slow down for nothing then speed back up again. It’s happened to me every night this week.

What a ■■■■■■
Agree, not sure what Left Hand Clown’s agenda is but beginning to wonder if he’s a driver at all, seems to delight in being a ■■■■!
Blind driver that completely fails to read any of the large amount of “40” signs throughout that section = shouldn’t be on the road. There is simply no excuse and yes, I would prefer not to have to share the roads with thick ■■■■■ like that thanks.

Have you never ever made a mistake in all your driving career !!!
only staw to clutch at is if you recieved the NIP more than 2 weeks after you drove 47 mph between 2 yellow average speed cameras when there are plenty of signs saying 40 is the limit

Intersting point! Whilst i don’t deny the offence, was a momentary lack of concentration! Normally set the CC at 2-3 mph below limit just to be safe, probably got caught on one of those downhill bits! But the offence was on 17/05/14, i received the NIP 18/06/14. Does this make a difference?
Bearing in mind it probably went to the boss first (It was his wagon i was driving, I’m agency at the mo!)
And just to say thanks to all for the advice and humorous admonishment (Bar one, obviously!) no point getting angry, just miffed it sullied my clean driving licence!

Forgive me but I would much rather share the roads with someone whos only smudge on their clean licence is getting caught going a little quickly on a rare occasion than someone who feels vehicles checks are OTT… But thats just me, sure your a great driver really and only have a little troll now and then to compensate for something in the height or trouser dept.
Bit like me really as I was also only blessed with a button mushroom and 2 petit pois…

I’m sure someone will correct me but as I understand it the NIP must reach the registered owner within 14 days, they have much longer to contact the actual driver.

Roymondo is your man for the specifics on this.
As follows:
The 14 day rule relates only to the period of time in which the Police/Process Unit must serve the original Notice. The Police do not have to prove that the Notice reached its intended recipient within 14 days, merely that they believe that it arrived, but there may be a defence available if the intended recipient can convince a Court that the notice did not arrive in time or at all. In many cases, the registered keeper will be a lease company not the actual driver, with the result that even if the driver is unaware of the incident, service of the Notice is good if it was sent to arrive at the registered keeper’s last known address within 14 days of the offence.
Effectively, you could have a defence. But if I were you, I’d take it on the chin, unless your evidence is cast iron. The decision rests entirely on the discretion of a DJ, and if you get the wrong one that got out of the wrong side of bed/kicked the cat/kicked the missus, you’ve more chance of knitting ■■■■ than getting it overturned.
They don’t like giving up on their money box supplies.
If they offer you a cheapish way out, I’d take it.

Thanks for all the advice. Think i’ll just bite the bullet and take it, or if the course is offered take that! I know it was my fault, after all, there was only 1 person in the cab that day, apart from the gremlins that is, but that won’t hold up in court will it!!!
Just hurts my pride!!!

Yeh, don’t take it personally. But look at it this way. Years ago if you got a tug, you really were a nutter. Nowadays, every nun and nurse, vicar and doctor are totting up points like buggery.
Speed cameras are passion of this country because firstly, it’s very easy to measure speed (though less so to do it accurately. This doesn’t deter the authorities though, because they know most won’t even attempt to argue). Secondly, it is one of the best sources of income the authorities have devised to batter motorists with for years.
Naturally, it’s got bugger all to do with road safety in a lot of cases. But, as I say, that isn’t the real reason for the cameras.
