very moving video. I do believe that network rail/highway agency have started using shocking videos on tv for people who drive across level crossing when the lights are on/barriers are down
I’d be amazed if that sort of video made it onto itv/channel4/5 etcv in advert breaks- people would say it’s too shocking, well thats the whole point
They ARE both well worth showing on TV
, and it is so True what you posted
they will NEVER get passed Unfortunatly,
THE Film,s makes YOU stop and Think.
We are involved in a course, with our colleagues from Police,Fire,Ambulance,Local Authority,Driving Instructors, aimed at 17 - 25 year old drivers where some of these clips are shown. The effect is enornmous.I strongly believe that young people today need to be shocked to change their attitudes, especially on driving.
The course is run 4-5 times annually, with approx 40-60 drivers on each course. If it prevents just one serious rtc, then it must be worth it.
extrucker: If it prevents just one serious rtc, then it must be worth it
those exact words were said to me by my advanced driving instructor when i asked why the local council were giving away free pas+ courses, which i applied for and passed 7 years ago. It’s true, if they can prevent just one accident then its money well spent.
should be shown on prime time tv, shock vids might just change some of the driving habits of the idiots out there. had a prat today catch me up in a 30 limit and sit up my arse until the end of limit, he then goes to overtake and end up sidways because were on a b road and its covered in ice.
Holy ■■■■ The one with the cars certainly put shivers down my spine. Makes the uk ad with the little boy, even though it does hit the spot, seem rather mild. Definately need to put that on the tv.
Maybe someone should get the Sun/Mirror etc. to lobby parliament to get it shown. Shock tactics
It’s certainly made me think
I agree it should be shown to the public. It does seem like that is the only way most of those that need to see it will ever learn what reality is. That vid is reality.
It is a compilation of mainly Irish road safety adverts. I believe some of them have been considered too graphic to be shown. I have several more of these which should be shown to all drivers prior to being given a license.
Very shocking ,but you can not take a tv in the car with you just to remind you of what could happen, and as most drivers would think that it would not happen to them there will still speed.
Most cars can do 100mph and if it can the will try to do just that as most of those video clips were from Australia and as the do put them on the TV.
We as drivers are the only ones in the would with a licence to kill and as seen in the videos speed does kill so kill your speed
The typical boy racer, sales rep in a hurry or lorry driver on their mobile phone or running bent never consider that it could be them that cause an accident and it could be their body trapped in a mangled vehicle or them behind bars for death through dangerous driving. It will always be someone else… The people who really need to think about the safety of their driving wont pay attention to videos like these, afterall, theres no way it could happen to them!
watch this video and i think it might change your mind to speeding
well done stuart that is a very powerful video and definatley gets the point across. i also definatley think it should be shown on primetime television.
i think the stunts with level crossing is a lot to do with teenagers thinking they are invinceable and one day they will look back and realise how stupid they acutually were and it will shock them.
A lot of those ads were shown on Irish TV North and South, but lets call a spade a spade lads, walk out in to any town or village accross the countries and well see it.The only time itll slow people down is when that individual stops breathing.Sorry to be blunt.Accident today when a car ended up ON TOP,not partially,of another after it hit a pole, and another car.Dreadful.See RTE news.ie
think some of the trouble is, some people just won’t be convinced, (although these ads may help?)
guy today, in the middle lane, virtually stationery, i was moving on the inside, approx 35-40mph, got about 10 foot away, and he just went straight into lane 1, my only chance of not hitting him, was the shoulder, i didn’t even have time too blow the horn, as a warning. when i got back in lane 1, he was back in the middle, traffic was stationery, i glared at him, he just looked at me, and said, “whats your bloody problem.”
i said, " 40 tonnes of bananas, and you, ■■■■■■■■■■ i have know doubt, what so ever, that he seriously, didn’t realize, the gravity, of what could have happened
trouble with people like that, is they only realize, once its finally too late, shame.
Some of those clips are being shown to the over 15s in Leicester schools now - a dedicated police backed roadshow is doing the rounds - it also includes the anti drink/drug drive hard hitting vids from Eire which the UK do not seems to want to show on our TV screens
I like the ones that end with ‘If you drink & drive then you’re a bloody idiot’
This young guy was repeatedly warned about his driving by the police for his speeding and dangerous driving. He killed four of his friends driving them home from a night out. He was over the limit and driving dangerously on a twisty narrow road. His car left the road and smashed into a tree. The police estimate he was doing 65-70mph.
There were six people in the car. The four back seat passengers were all killed. The two girls had been decapitated. In a terrible mistake the bodies were mixed up and the graves had to be reopened and the bodies exhumed. This happened just a few days after the funerals took place in the very small, tight knit community.
This is where it gets really sick. Not six months after the crash, on the same stetch of road where he killed his friends he was caught speeding again.
He was eventually convicted and jailed for seven years and banned from driving for twelve years. The judge said about him:
“It is difficult to see any evidence of real remorse on your part”.
