Learn abit of Polish, change your name to Andy Krasniewski and I think you’re in with a job mate! Dont mind commuting from G.Yarmouth every day do you?!?!
I thought I was gonna have to learn it delivering to building sites round London in my last job. More Poles doing the work than on the scaffolds outside.

as we all know Tesco has recently employed polish drivers because they cannot get drivers to fill their vacancies within the uk and have had to import drivers from the eastern bloc…and are paying them uk wages…obviously not enough to attract uk drivers…but i thought tesco drivers was on about £30 grand a year…obviously the shortage of good qualified professional drivers will only make things worse for us…and better for the foreigner…And if you believe that…
From what I hear Tesco are subbing out a lot of their deliveries so as to get rid of agency drivers, and eventually their own drivers, so I guess using foreign drivers is an interim thing.
Not only tesco,s employing east european, wife works for woolworths last week she had to explain with great difficulty to a polish driver, the best way to back his wagon on the loading dock. The wagon was a woolies one.

I am sure a company the size of Woolworths could find a British driver or train one of their staff to a higher standard then a east european who had to be told the best way to reverse a truck by your good lady wife who I expect is not a truck driver.
From what I read on this forum there are a good few class 2 drivers who have a good bit of time under their belts who would jump at the chance to be trained up to a class one , the thing which may possibley be keeping them back is the cost of extra training for the class 1 licence .
So why are these brain dead money men in companys looking always at the short term fix to the driver problem spend a grand or so training a proper British class 2 driver up to class 1 standard or employ a east european who has, in 80% of cases no proper experience, and will stay long enough to save a little cash to go home and buy a new Trabant for himself leaving your company still short of a proper driver plus possible damage caused plus the reputation that as an employer of east europeans not many real life British drivers would entertain working for you
Now if I was your good lady wife I would have told him “SPIERDOLAJ”
Why is is that some people are so dim witted that they are when
frightened by things or persons that are different . that strange thoughts
come into their empty heads, yes we do need to state our points of view
and yes I shouted my head off as much as any one else about the employment of cheap labour, but I will not take part in a rant of discrimination, yes we must stand and make a point about the misuse
of employment of cheap labour that does not meet certain levels in
HSE; DRIVEING; SECURITY OF VEHICLE LOADS; ADEQUATE KNOWLEDGE OF THE DRIVEING REGULATIONS; HIGHWAYCODE;
and when only working in one country permently the abillity to communicate ,converse , when it is required, and when we do state our
point only as allowed and not any other method.

Shaun,
you see you would make a ideal class one driver, you have tacho experience , loading experience etc etc all the things which would make a good driver plus you can speak and read english but why employ you and invest in the companys long term future when they can employ Boris ■■■■■■■■■■ for peanuts
Change your name , buy knock off designer trainers or scuffed old plastic slip ons , depending on your age, adopt a slack jawed rounded shoulder stance then wander through most fridge transports gates and the jobs yours, no experience required ,easy .
So where are the unions on this one, they are really quite on this topic,I for one would like to hear what the big mouths have to say on H&S grounds re the drivers not speaking the as the the natives in the UK.
Strange where are the unions on this one, normally they have a point of view on everthing from bog roll to lunar landings. There are H&S inplications regarding not being competent english speakers.
