Used to see the continental drivers coming through Banbury in their Dodges. They were hauling Talbot car part. Orange trucks if I remember right. preume they came from France.
Wasn’t it derived from a yank truck? What about the engine, was it a Magirus ?
There was a bloke around in the 80s doing Italy, called Johnny Dodge, he did a bit of M/E & he reckons that they were the nuts, but he may be biased, he had a 141 when I knew him so they could’nt have been that good
i know where theyres 2 of em parked up in a garage gathering dust
guy wont sell em
Where ; in Canada…?
Tyson H Burridge ran a fleet of 16 Dodges nearly all day cabs in the 80’s.

They really are nasty looking things, yuk
Mortons Car Delivery had about 25-30 of them on W plates I think, my Brother also ran one, it went like stink.
To Bestbooties.
Don’t know if they are the same brothers, but I remember my dad telling me about two brothers who ran down to the m/e in a spanish dodge [or one each]. I think the trucks were brand new. Apparently, they broke down every five minutes and they had the luck of the devil. The trip took them about six months and they came home to bankruptcy.
Maybe some of the more regular m/e drivers can substantiate this story.
no harry in the uk, ill pop there next time im home n take a pic, dont hold ur breath though lol.

I may be wrong but I think I went to see this guy in the mid seventies, with my dad
From my faded old memory, they were two brothers, each with a yellow sleeper cabbed Barreiros Dodge, painted in yellow & with a LOT of extra’s (radio cassettes, custom made engine covers to hold odds & ends & possibly aircon).
My Dad was after one or both of them & only walked away because the owner refused to take a bid. Seem to remember he wanted £3750 for each, one being in good nic, the other was damaged from an attack (hijack ).
If we’re singing from the same hymn sheet it was TWIN-TEES Transport, I think from the south east (Sidcup rings a bell).
Allports Transport in Birmingham ran a few out of Perry Barr Conbase in the 70’s / 80’s on contract to OCL
Gert:
there was once an article in trucking international (i think) about an english firm who used to have a number of wrecks at their yard , and they used those dodges for spare parts to keep the remaing dodge`s running , the trucks were dark green , with a white roof , does anyone have a name■■?
i remember that, although there are still plenty of english companies running wrecks
burgoines (spelling) from lyonshall near hereford wasnt it ■■?
I remember kenny bowkett ( egg on legs) worked for a uk company and took a spanish dodge to middle east…if i remember rightly…he double manned it with another mate of our called Jim Rawlinson…so thats 3 of us from charlton…nearly made a football team…god bless the pair of them…
truckyboy Do you remember Steve Dalton from Charlton? Ex Hiltons M/E ,a bit of Swiss ;last I heard on Delamode .

Good photos, thanks for sharing.
The Londoners among you may remember Owen Dives Transport from Lower Road Bermondsey (Surrey Docks). They had some Spanish Dodges, two I think. (Also a couple of long nose Mercs, so they loved strange trucks!).
Dunno if anyone else has mentioned, but the last of 'em were badged Renault.
Still see 'em in Spain!

They were coming up from Poole, the Talbot Cars were in kit form and went up to Ryton for assembly. I took one up there for Rycroft over the Christmas Holiday. He had a Barreiros, it went like stink, one of the drivers clocked it at 85mph down the Mulsanne Straight.
It had a radiator so I doubt that it was from Magirus.
