wondered if I could pick you Spanish boys’ brains.
i drive a bin lorry here in UK, wondered what the chances were of doing this job in Spain. No chance at all i hear you say, but there is a bloke at our work who is from Austria and he doesn’t speak much English. I used to speak a bit of the old lingo, reckon a could get up to a reasonable standard in 6 months.
If he can come over hear and do it then why can’t I go over there (the continent) and do it. what do you reckon.
if you’ve got a positive attitude like yours about learning the lingo then i can’t see why you wouldn’t get a job on the binwagons.
around here they mostly work nights cos of the heat in the daytime and less inconvenience to other road users.
just like uk they are all employed by local council so i suppose its just like the uk in the fact that council work usually passed on by word of mouth rather than advertised, i’ve never seen any adverts for local council drivers although there are plenty of them.
my neighbour works for the council but i don’t think the money is very good.
vascoingles might post on here as well but any further questions be glad to help
Why just a bin wagon? There are other driving jobs that keep you local too!
Euro driving jobs at

Bin wagons is a bit of the old dead mans shoes game
It is reasonably well paid
set hours
easy work
and a list of budding bin drivers as long as your arm in most places.
Plus depending on where you decide to live i.e Cataluna, Valencia, Basque Country, Galicia etc etc if you work for the council they require you not only to be fluent in Spanish but also in the local dialect/language like Catalan, Euskerra, Gallego or Valenciano.

So, no problem there then, kill a Spaniard (worked for Sir F. Drake) then learn a couple languages.
Easy peasy.
