M271, left at the end, stay in the nearside lane and at the roundabout turn right. Then go over the bridge (First Avenue) and your into Sot’on docks.
Yes, there are other dock gates but this is the easiest and 95% of the box jockey’s go this way.
Where you go will depend on what you’re company do.
If they give you a location prior to arriving (like ours do) then follow the route given above and you’ll arrive at security then a roundabout,
Turn right for TA1 & TA2 (anpr at first barrier)
Turn left for TA3 (anpr at entrance) and also the empty park which is near the entrance to TA3.
If you are just given a vbs number then you need to go via pregate which is left at the first roundabout (towards TA3) and keep left then you’ll arrive at the booking in screen.
When you get to you’re TA press enter then it will give you you’re slot number, input slot number to enter, drive to slot and line ya self up to reverse in and do twistlocks before reversing into slot. Once loaded drive to seal check area and do twistlocks, get seal numbers and go to hut and follow the on screen instructions (inputting just the seal numbers) then if all good away you go.

I miss the days where you’d just rock up to a gatehouse, give the woman behind the window your details, she’d point you where to go, you got the box put on and leave. All this bollox just so the ports can transfer their wage bill to their customers.

always found southampton docks one of the better ones until you had to load unload out of pentalvers …sure that if they ever emptied that place they will find dead bodies… think my record was about 6 hours to take a fridge off a reefer

Utterly loathsome place.All those security frisks,cab searches which l doubt have been withdrawn, and the aforementioned Pentalvers- Marie- Celeste- experience,makes for a torrid time.Bloody glad to no longer darken their doorstep.The overnight parking opportunities were useful once upon a time l recall but now, all but none existent in the more peaceful ,boat terminal areas as once was.The rattling of empty skellies through the night on the main dock roads makes kipping a guaranteed non-event.(l think these still exist for overnights)The whole gruesome facility wouldn’t look out of place on a Hieronymus Boche canvas.

I’ve long been a fan of his elder brother Bish Bash.
Not sure about containers but in September I just drove in straight down to the grain terminal no one even asked my name other than to ask do you know where your going .

Do the test whenever you want. Once you pass it, print out the certificate and keep it with you. This is what you’re supposed to display in the windscreen but most don’t. You need to produce it to security if they stop you though.
Despise going into any docks, why is it all places like this assume you’ve been a million times and know what your doing,.
