Curries
Hi McWilliam, Thanks for posting the link describing the activities of Dourie Farms, I have known of them for 40 years or more I got a new Foden 8 wheeler at the same time as they got the six wheeler, I can’ remember what they ran before that another Foden I think. However the Farmers Guardian article was very interesting. I well remember Alistair Clarke’s Seddon artic too and knew him also. Thanks to Eddie “ERF guy” for posting the Culbae Foden.
Cheers Leyland 600.

I had forgotten that Curries Lemonade took over Wm Arnison and Sons , Wigton’s lemonade manufacturers. Mr & Mrs Arnison lived two doors away from my home as a lad and were very good to my sister, two other neighbours children and myself. I rode with Lennie Arnison asa lad in a Ford 7V wagon delivering lemonade. thanks for posting McWilliam.

Do not thank me, thank the various Dumfries / Solway Vehicle truck groups, I found the photo on there.
George, there is a thread running on the " professional drivers" forum about the road from Gretna to Stranrear, Reading it you would think the problems they encounter are new, Its been like this since the seventies at least. Will they learn the answer■■? I don’t think so. Regards Kev. Ps I ran that road for the whole of my driving career, (45 years) never had a problem.
Aye Kev I ran that road over a similar number of years as yourself sometimes daily and never encountered any major problems. I always enjoyed the trip whatever the season.
Cheers, Leyland 600
