I have seen some nice rear ends in my time, but there is one there that stands out, lol.
mechanic77:
There is definatley something special about that NYR Kenworth.
Iāve heard the recovery sections ābest kept working truckā award went to this Swansea based truck, quite an acheivement in view of the quality kit at the show.
Great post Neil, I take it that is Ashley Loverings friend Ken Williams Daf. What a nice fleet he has.
How things have changed in the recovery business, years ago everything was either ex army or homemade contraptions. No doubt things changed when the ulw of the towing vehicle had to be 2/3 times that of the towed vehicle or something similar! Or was it number of axles and braking!
Did you guys by any chance get the speed channel tv program Wrecked. It followed a Chicago based family recovery business that ran all kinds of wreckers. It was 100 times better than ice road truckers, and showed real transport and mechanical people in action.
Their fleet was top notch like Kens, and wait for it there is a South Wales link. Newportās Jon Langford of Leeds based punk group the Mekons fame lives in the windy city. Jon is big on the folk music and art scene around Chicago, the Great Lakes and Ontario where many South Wales boys have made their homes.
Regards to all, Paul
Well Neil and Andrew Iāve done it!
I went to Calais, France and met the seller to pick up my Volvo F89 off him. When I got there I couldnāt find him so asked an Irish driver if he seen old 89 on a lowloader anywhere? He locked his lorry up and said ācome on we will find itā which we did after a while, he could not have been more helpfull.
We went from the port to the tunnel to unload. I had loads of problems getting through customs and sorting it out. Greek truck- old banger with Welsh boy driving I did not have clue what to do luckily two English drivers showed me the ropes, really helpful lads. All I kept thinking was please start on the other side to get off or Iāll look a right idiot holding trucks up . One turn she started no problem.
I came off train and thought 'balls, Iām driving this home, no lowloader for me, no wipers, air leaks galore, some lights, power steering naff, no interior, all sorts of problems had to wrap a blanket I took with me round me due to bitter cold. No proper sea.t
Clackett lane to fuel up then no more stopping all the way home to Caerphilly. Thank goodness I made it.
One thing I learned was the French: no help + no manners. The British drivers could not do enough to help me, Greek guy Antony as well. Thanks to all involved from Rowland Ward [I needed it]

yes, thatās the what people are saying at the moment.norbert dentrassangle bought tdg, they handle the allocation of work from all the tata steel mills in the uk,though they (tdg) donāt use their own vehicles, harsco were/are?the largest contractor to them on that work.
