South Wales Hauliers sixties and seventies onwards (Part 1)

this is for mechanic77.sorry if this is straying away from the thread.1984 old aust services heading for bere regis in dorset.

Hi everyone, some great photos by all of you again, here are some of ken jones transport,i can not take the credit for the
MAN photo as i purchased the photo at a show, both volovos were driven by my brother.

my father, pictured on the driver’s side of the joint motorways two pedal leyland beaver that he had new in 1968.i was only 3 years old at that time, the young chap (now in his 50’s) on the passengers side is the son of a joint motorways fitter who took this picture in joints yard in the summer 0f 1968.my father drove for joints for around 5 years.

nationwide transport from cardiff were a part of a very large ship chandlers concern, they moved large amounts of timber amongst many other things during the 70’s,they had yards in sheffield and tilbury.as many hauliers did in the 70’s they briefly got into middle east work.i am reliably told by more than one of nationwide’s ex middle east men that this is what happened in eastern turkey one trip.

in a poor attempt to try and keep up with my good mate scooter1 and his brilliant jr pics.here’s one of jr’s in membury services loaded with a roof truss for covent garden in the early 70’s.

shall finish with this odd ball, under contract to rockwool
