Hi Pete 359. That Aseries looked loverly after you done it, and was a bit disapointed when it was sold to Ken Thomas. Ive nothing against the man and his restorations are 1st class, but was it really necsersary to strip a recently restored motor back down to the Chassis rail’s■■?

Hi Bewick,
That picture was lent to me by a mate who drove for Blue Line in the 60’s. I don’t know anyone who has pics of the South Wales fleets of yesteryear. I live in Mid Wales, nearly a 100 miles from where they operated from. The only pictures I have of a biggish fleet are Roberts of Knighton, which are on the Border thread. I have got some of Mansel Davies from West Wales on my Phone, but don’t know how to get them on here.
Cheers Dave.
hi dave, thank you.yes i sold that erf in june 2000 to ken thomas wisbech (now gone)in order to fund the restoration of my f88…now this was a south wales landmark, sadly raymond’s have moved just up the road and who could blame them with the offer they had.for as many years as i can remember waterton roundabout in bridgend was known by everyone as john raymonds roundabout.

You’ve buried me in detail now as all we ever wanted ( and always got) was 20ton of tinplate for Lanccashire or Carlisle if they twisted our arm !! Brady’s Octopus & trailer JEO 193 !!
another of tony morgan’s fine 1970’s fleet.this mack was bought by him new,r registered? as i remember.it’s difficult to explain the impact trucks like these had at that time.the majority of welsh firms had invested in sed. atki 400’s or maybe a swedish machine, but this mack was at the time in south wales atleast nothing short of amazing.

Hi Andrew,
We don’t realise how big some of the plant is until its on a lowloader. I do see some big kit in the Quarries near here, but its not as big as some of the Steelworks and Coalfield plant. This thread has certainly been revived tonight.
Cheers Dave
