Hi, nice photo of Mark Davies’s E14.
Mark ran it after his father Viv passed away and iirc he ran a market garden type of business near Pontardulais
after he got out of transport
Regards, Allan
Hi Allan,
The Davies’s ran fine fleets over the years.I last spoke with Mark at the late Kelvin Powell’s funeral back in July 2017,they were very good friends and used to attend a few events together in days gone by.I think he’s involved in Organic farming these days? Surreal scenes on the roads now during this challenging period,Very few traffic ques and the usual congestion.I noticed truck mot’s have now been suspended for three months? Goodness only knows where we will all be after this bizarre scenario has finally passed.
Regards Andrew.

Hi Allan / Andrew,
The last time i spoke to Mark"s sister Josie he was still in the Market Garden business.
Remember when the old man Viv and is brother John parted the waves around about 1980 and Viv went is own way…i remember them buying a brand new ERF B series 290 ■■■■■■■ …seen many photos over the years but never saw this ERF i mention.
I also remember Viv buying a gennings conversion R reg ERF B series second hand off Howells from Coity in Bridgend he bought it for Mark to drive after passing is class one…he did some fridge work with it for Transcontinental but never seen a pic of it also.
Hi all,
A couple here,Courtesy of Lew Lewis. From the days working for Short Bros.Plant Hire,Then they were the largest privatly owned plant hire company in Europe.
Hi Andrew the photo of the SCOW Albion brought back old memories, when i started on steel in 1963 with Holloways they were still running 3 of them, the MON drivers nick named them FAITH HOPE and CHARITY,they didnt have a good word for them.
Hi chaps, question for you if this happened in the 80,s how do you reckon the steel would fair and all the hauliers like jr,joints and blue line on a lockdown would they class steel as an essential, what do you think

Hi John, take a look at this from the department of Transport (first time I’ve attached anything so if it’s gone wrong - I dunno!) Hardly able to drive a truck from home, wording is, ‘to work from home wherever possible, if you cannot work from home then you can go to work’ DOT Covid-19.png[/attachment
Beaver 680,
Hi Tony,
Reading your post on Albions & Holloways brought a name from the past to mind, don’t know why.
Trevor Deeble , is he still about ?
Regards , Allan

Hi Smallcoal, Pretty much every motor manufacturer has sent their U.K. factory staff home.So tbh there probably wouldn’t be anywhere near the usual demand for coil.Wether it was deemed essential or not,Crazy times.Ive never seen the U.K. road network so quiet.
Regards Andrew.
Hi Allan
Trevor is fine he became a octogenarian this year,we go for a pint in our club every week with Dai Jones and Neville but the virus has put a stop to that.
regards Tony.
Taken at cynffig today ,hi Andrew regarding the roads yesterday I went to Barnstable had a night out the a361 was as dead as anything it’s strange travelling with out no queues from the Coldra to Cardiff there’s no queues or heavy traffic it’s eerie as you said
Hi all,Some Great photos and memories on here lately, thank you all.Buzzer,Dee Valley ran a beautiful fleet,in a time when people didn’t really nurture lorries.Last time I was in Llangollen, their original yard buildings were still there on Regent Street. You’d never think a large haulier ever operated out of there.Ive recently discovered a South Wales Middle East trucking legend, lives only half a mile from me,in Porthcawl,Brian Williams drove for Nationwide Transport many years ago and along with his mate Dai Lloyd from Cardiff,Bought a couple of their MAN’s and became Howlan Transport. Here are a few of Brian’s pictures, someone drew the short straw with a day cab 88 to Teheran.Ive also attached one of Brian’s stories from the Middle East days.seeing as we all have so much time on our hands.Stay safe everyone.
Regards Andrew.
