Hi all,
For any whom aren’t aware? The late Ronnie Wright’s funeral is midday tomorrow at Nottage church and Porthcawl road cemetry.
Regards Andrew…
Hello Andrew, I wasnt aware that Ronnie had passed away until I spoke to Mike Evans just a few minutes ago, and then by chance turned on the computer and saw your post. We worked at Glyn Morgan
s together for years and I obviously knew him previously when he worked for Protheroes.
A really good driver and one of what you`d call " old school "
With the current situation his funeral may unfortunately not be very well attended.
Best Wishes
Mike
Bookworm,
Sorry to hear about Ronnie Wright, old school , exactly the way to describe him.
Regards, Allan

Hi Mike,
I first new Ronnie when he drove for J&M,I remember as a kid, him cutting his forehead badly on some coil banding when I was with him in The Abbey,Not sure if he might have done some Middle East with Nationwide at some point? A lovey man, well respected and a very good driver. My father saw him recently.I reckon this sheeting would pass the Bewick inspection ?
Hello Andrew. I knew Ron when he was with Protheroes and when they packed up he came to work for Glyn. When Glyn sold out to Nationwide Ron went with them , and as you say ran to the Middle East, later doing the same for J&M.,
While with us at Glyn Morgan he had one of the first F88s that Griffin Mill sold, he used to double shift it to Warrington daily with a character called “Gentleman Jim” . That meant 800 miles in 24 hours going over the Severn Bridge and M5. Ron wasn`t in good health lately, another old timer gone,
Best Wishes
Mike

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the information.I remember Monks Hall Steelworks in Warrington.Had an old timber signal box at its entrance. Was a fairly big place in the 70’s.J&M were regular visitors there. The generation of drivers from that era have told me many times about that job and the FORD at Southampton Transit plant job that ran 24/7 with coil from the Abbey and scrap from Southampton back to Ebbw Vale.Phenomenal motor the 88,helped secure VOLVO’s standing in the U.K. marketplace,to this day imo.
Regards Andrew.

Hi, nice photo of Mark Davies’s E14.
Mark ran it after his father Viv passed away and iirc he ran a market garden type of business near Pontardulais
after he got out of transport
