with the choice of a then fairly new 142 or 112,i would say very unlucky :laughing:here is one for harry gill,courtesy of my old mate jim doig and the dumfries transport group Facebook page,one of vale transport’s 8 leggers.never seen this shot before.probably ? taken by the legend that is peter j. davies.

you are right mate,if i had a haulage company,i would keep something like that in the corner of the yard as a punishment motor.they wouldn’t damage new ones and laugh about it then :laughing: :laughing: :laughing:

Hi Andrew don’ t know if you knew that Ralph Davies uncle Mansel was something to do with or related to Philip Jones & Sons from Fforestfach hence the black trucks, in fact some of his early DAFs and a P reg Seddon even had white cab tops. Regards Noel

hi Laurie, ralphs uncle, is Mansel who worked for phillip Jones, later married phillip jones daughter, Avrel.

Hi Andrew the Maggie was RDG 900R which he bought from Mark Weir who was salesman for Wapiti Commercials in Gloucester the local Maggie Agents. The advertising blurb from M/Deutz stated that they would not freeze,boil or leak- what they omitted was that also they wouldn’t pull the willy off a chocolate mouse.The Maggie replaced a Seddon 32/4 KDG 172P ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ bought as a Tractor then stretched to a rigid then cut back to a unit to join myself and others subbing for George M Read in Mitcheldean .RDG didn’t reign long and was replaced with his 1st DAF 2800 BAD 562T Regards Noel
