South Wales Hauliers sixties and seventies onwards (Part 1)

They’re on the wonderfully named ‘grisleymires lane’, not 100 yards from Bewick’s old workshop.

I have just come across this site, what a find, there are good photos & comments.
I am not a driver, but approx 20 odd years ago was working on the forklift for Meachers Transport in Aberdare on site @ Prelli Cables (still there now!!) Looking at some of the photos posted on Page 5 , Dave Beer was my boss at the time, Big ■■■■ was driving along with Steve Everett & from memory 2 other ex JR drivers Lew (not sure of surname) & Charles (again not sure of surname) there were approx 9 drivers & apart from a Leyland 7.5 tonner the whole artic fleet was ERF, the outbound deliveries were to our regional depots throughout the UK & then backloads if up North out of our copper plant in Skelmersdale back to Aberdare. The photos of Robbins & George Beer’s trucks also remind me of them coming in to deliver empty wooden drums that were loaded from Askern saw mills in Doncaster.

John Bevan from Hereford used to bring a lot of those cable drums down from Doncaster…

hi Geraint, if I can find Mr Williams I will ask if he got any pics of Aubrey Willians, he also had a dodge tipper.

Hi Andrew, F88 door skins now in the front room, all they need is a bit of an airbrush, see if the current Mrs will allow me to hang on the wall!
