Chris Webb:
Andrew, was it CV Sales who were the AEC agents in Swansea, not far from W G Davies’ yard at Morriston. If so,who were the AEC agents in Cardiff,Penarth area? Was it CV Sales as well?
Assuming you are old enough to remember.
hi chris,
to my knowledge and i am not quite old enough to remember ,there never was an aec agent in swansea.as a kid in the 70’s,i remember fletchers (leyland dealers) on carmarthen road.joint bought all their brand new marathon’s there.further along were prails (now swansea daf) i don’t think? they were aec dealers.LYNXMAN is the trucknet member who is best to answer that.cv sales were the dealers at cardiff.it’s been home to the scania dealers for some years now.
regards andrew.
Does any of you oldies remember TSP. TRANSPORT. LTD. Villiers Rd. Skewen Neath. allways good for return loads , anyware, Im talking 60s70s, Era, any of you from the old school still about, come on show yourself before its too late, Regards Larry
I think that CV sales were located on Neath Road next door to the brewery depot i think they then mooved to Village Farm Industrial Estate Pyle .I think that CV Sales took over from Jeffries Commercials.but i may be wrong it was a long time ago and i may be shot down in flames
Hi Andrew, thanks for taking the time to download the photos of the trucks. I showed them to my dad yesterday who was over the moon to see them on the internet.
Ianto is right about CV Sales, they were located on Neath road in old Jeffreys garage and I can confirm that they were AEC dealers. My dad used to take his AEC Marshal there for repairs in the late 60’s early 70’s.
Yes the f88 did belong to Roy but they were scrapped.

hi jeremy,
thank you for loaning and sharing you photos.
Hello Chris/ Andrew.
My memories of CV sales in Penarth road are also a bit foggy but I am from tother side of the bridge. In the mid seventies I worked for Industrial Fuels and Liquids Transportation whose yard was at the end of Penarth Road. The main spanner man in the workshop was Tony Rosser who I think went on to found Barry Road Transport. A couple of times I had to go down the road for spares and I think the place that Scania is in today was Telford motors the Atkinson agents. I seem to remember CV sales were further along the road towards the city centre, perhaps where the new Wickes ■■■■ it up yourself store is now. The photo below is the frontage of the place with the AEC sign just visible.

Hi guy’s, W.T Davies occupied what use to be CV sales on Penarth Road until they ceased trading in the mid 1990’s. The workshop & offices used to be were the Land Rover dealership is now(opposite the old Hill’s Transport complex on penath road)& went up Hadfield road as far as the old VW dealers (now citroen). Their is some waste land to the rear of the Land Rover dealers which use to be the yard and you can make out the old steaming ramp in amoungst the long grass( good view into the yard from an R cab Scania…sad I know ).
The white building in the left of the picture is were Wickes is now.

Nice one Simon, that looks like a 360 HY-MAC, in this shot. Built in Rhymney great machines, the distinctive yellow colour and counterweight hopefully confirming my observation.
We used to pick up those counterweights from the foundry, machine them level, drill them to fit and then deliver them to the factory. And you think you are sad lol.
Great memories for me.
Regards Paul
