hi dave,
yes the old cat992 was a big lump.though i bet our mate gah1950 stirs his tea with bigger machines than that :laughing: :laughing: :laughing:the 992 that used to load coal on liverpool dock could overload a sleeper cab 8 wheeler with 1 bucket.penllyne’s drivers always had to tip a bit off to weigh out.a long time before on board weighing became standard.

Hi Andrew & Martyn,
I used to think the loading shovels in Margam were big in the late 60’s when I went in and out for slag.The quarries up here have some big machines,but not as big as the one’s you mention at Liverpool.
Cheers Dave.

I can well imagine that Martyn,those big machines must get through a lot of fuel in a day.The quarry owners can afford it,they don’t give the hauliers much :imp: :wink: .
Cheers Dave.

after wimpey minerals became tarmac,m671 was painted in the then new tarmac livery.

Hi Hywel, have not seen you on the site for a while, hope you are keeping well. All the boys are up at Gaydon this weekend, probably having a session on the strongbow lol. No doubt they will post some photo’s which we can all enjoy.
Dave, are you going to the RETRO show, no excuse’s you are a lot closer than me.
Lets mention Neil (mechanic 77) for his work bringing the show to everyone’s attention, including BLB Big Lorry Blog enthusiasts, and putting the South Wales boys in the limelight. You are a star mate, or as Andrew would say, you make me laugh m8.
Have a great weekend everyone, sammy dog, behave yourself;
Regards Paul.
