Thanks for the Rosser pictures Andrew,a company that made me feel at home in the early 70s when I was in an AEC MK3 like Rosser’s drivers were.

Those old motors will have carried a few tons of coil in their days.

The bus and coach wales 2011 show is being held in Merthyr Tydfil on Sunday 4th September, this show usually attracts a few old trucks among the many old and new PSV’s on display.
Neil.

Hi Neil, after reading abtfinmans post the other day it got me thinking about all the hills around the valley’s. One being the old road from Merthyr Town centre to Dowlais top.
I used to catch a Red and White loaddecker front engine Gardner 150/180 manual box to Rhymney Bridge, or a Western Welsh fleetline rear engine Gardner semi auto up through Merthyr. At peak periods we would be shuffling for bus stops with Merthyr Boroughs Leylands/ 600s I think. Man, it used to take for ever to get to Dowlais top, but I guess those days everything was more laid back.
It would be neat to see those buses again, along with tigers and leopards Leyland’s that is, and plaxton coaches with Ford D1000 blown or the B10 Volvo, these pair just blowing the doors off the Bedford 466.
I read somewhere the bus preservation scene is growing.
Should be a fun day out,

Regards Paul

Hi Paul

I was born, and my granparents lived, in Caeharris (Caeharris below the railway bridge, Dowlais Top above the bridge)

I rode those old loaddeckers most weeks

Regards

hi chris,
it strikes me as being a hell of a waste of classic motors.they would have been parked outside ever since rosser’s finished.i would guess around 1987?

pete 359:

not in there looking for your next project are you cheers martyn.
