uote=“pete 359”]hi dennis,
aaaah the salamander fire,now there’s an adventure I am very biased with these devices as I vividly recall our business neighbours premises catching fire when one of those bloody things spewed oil all over the floor and it ignited. that said I spent many a happy hour stood around many of them,in joint’s,j&m etc.etc.etc
regards andrew.

Hi Andrew you are right about salamander I grew up with them but when I was 18 working in the garage one of our drivers fell onto one don’t know if he fell asleep as he had been sitting on chair by it,he had 90% burns and only survived for two weeks. It was a bad time all the other companies threw theirs out after.
Cheers
Ian
jesus andrew reminds me of the davies bros days no doors on the garage if you got brian davies talking about the opencast you d get a good hour out of him.

hi ben i used to drive a bison for vernon on nights working on the viaducts in port talbot when they were digging out and resurfacing them subbing to T S Rees. this was as well as my day job working for a pipe firm when they were building the Bosch factory in llantrisant. it brought back a lot of memories seeing the old bisons

one of KCS transports new MAN,s and weighing in at a modest 14.500kg not bad with a bulk trailer on
hiya,
Surprised to see a motor of that size managing to weigh off at that light tare the last time I was anywhere near something with so many axles it tared off at nearer sixteen tonnes, must be balsa wood eh.
thanks harry long retired.
hi harry had another KCS in today with a different make bulker on weighing in at 14120kg so carrying just under 30 ton
i only remember the seddon, and now the daf. The leylands were before my time but if it was anything like steves seddon and his daf then they were well looked after vehicles!
