Driver shortage? The roads around here, North Yorkshire, are clogged up with Army lads getting their licences before they leave the forces.

Maybe all their Polish drivers have gone home or the insurance for them has got too much!
iirc when they were invited to take refreshments with the TC they blamed their problems on the Polish drivers who had long since returned home and could not be held to account!,as Kr79 has posted they seem to have got a few decent motors now.Not seen them around CocaCola at Sidcup for a while.

In my area firms serving the construction industry are really struggling to find experianced drivers with MPQC(epic)card & Crossrail card, one of my mates tried agencies they all quoted prices and talked the talk but could not supply drivers(maybe the Crossrail project has created a boom for the time being)whats it like your side of the water Kr?

Sounds like the outfit is just being fussy/tight (just like every other that’s involved on transport nowadays). If they offer decent pay & the appropriate training (seeing they want so many qualifications) then people would take the job…

Yeah we really seem to have picked up a lot last couple of months got a fair few new motors coming although some are replacements. Had new drivers start but for every decent one four or five total idiots. They pay decent wages but don’t tolerate idiots for long.
Everyone you seem to talk to seems busy between crossrail and even those not on it are picking up work that others ain’t chasing.

You are so wrong…
MJD are Coca Cola’s most expensive haulier, Stobart undercut them years ago for some of the core work, shunting between factory and warehouse, they couldn’t cope with it and MJD won it all back.
Gregorys and the rest of them cannot cope with the volume of work and the constantly changing requirements of Coca Cola, who think nothing of phoning up with an hours notice that they’ve just started another line and need an extra 20 storage loads covered in the next four hours.
You won’t see MJD lorries punching up to Wakefield for peanuts like the other hauliers on there.
They may run a rag tag bunch of lorries, but they have never ever run around for peanuts.
They may not have the best reputation among drivers, but ask their customers and you’ll hear a different story altogether.
I know this as I worked in the office at MJD, I’ve seen the rates, MJD were getting more for Sidcup to Northampton than Gregorys, Pollocks, Rygor and Stobart were getting for Sidcup to Wakefield.

I have no idea just i leave near sidcup and work near edmonton so see them in and out regular.
Although from what nmm says prehaps you should give them a call might get a rate increase
