I don’t see any ex squaddies asking how to use an auto gearbox on a MAN.

That’s because they already think they know it all and would rather muddle through and end up in a ditch instead of asking people that know more about them than themselves.

Probably because they’ve already rolled it on a roundabout going too fast expecting the lorry to do all the work for them. Drivers who’re prepared to ‘look silly’ and ask questions are often the best drivers over those who choose to ‘get on with it’ and cause £000’s worth of damage.
As for new blood coming into the industry, I’m booking my medical for a week on Friday and sorting my cpc mod 2/theory tests out for next month and should start my Cat C training sometime after the new year
Nice to be back on the track to living my childhood dream ‘again’
Cheers

Your carer not turned up today, then?
Your right, clearly only straw chewing lumberjack shirt wearing rigger booted inbreeds are capable of driving a lorry with any skills out the box from day one
Happy I do not subscribe to the above
As if a massive 100 drivers, I’ll assume across the country, is going to be a huge impact on job availability.
I am quite amazed at how many ex forces guys want to drive for a living, don’t they realize the big money is in the ■■■■■■■■■ Boat business

. The more obscure, the better.
Truck net is a funny place and has a few people anti ex military becoming drivers is it because we didn’t pay for the licence il admit some that come from the transport side of the military are poor drivers compared to tech or teeth arm trades who normally drive more but I don’t care weather you have always been a civvi or military we all have a job to do

Unfortunately not, so I’m fending for ones self! Am off on my 4 off until Friday now and will be on until Wednesday for a day and a half on overtime so my cares being upped next week…not bad for a newbie

I dont see it as people being against ex-service men driving lorries. It was and perhaps still is traditional to join up and come out with an H.G.V.Although they dont pay cash they have given up a proportion of their young lives in exchange for a licence. There are places keen to take them on and pay less for them as they have a resettlement grant or whatever its called now.
