Whilst travelling through France, especially in the countryside you often see road signs and telephones with a small solar panel on them. I cannot remember seeing them in the UK.
Has anyone seen them? in particular I am looking for a couple of self powered no entry signs. New legislation stipulates they must be internally lit apparently.

I have been told by a traffic engineer that a short piece of road cannot be made No Entry because it has to have illuminated signs approved by the HA. We do not have the funding for these. I was going to offer a solar solution
this is just an idea if your good at DIY, buy a sigh that will show light though then get a tin box the same size then go buy some of those cheap solar gardan light for a pound retrofit in to box and there you have it mite work the light would have to have the solar on the top and on the box cut out a hole so the solar pannel will work
hope you get what i mean
There’s a ‘bend’ warning sign in my village.
It’s got a small solar panel and a small wind turbine on top.
It’s one of those that only lights up when a vehicle approaches.

that’s the thing Simon. I have a site meeting on Monday and wanted to arm myself with a counter argument. I read they have very sensitive speed sensors in them so a pigeon could set them off in reality.
