does anybody else loose pens down the steering colum on a DAF CF truck :question: , the bit i mean is the gap where the steering wheel can be adjusted, normaly i keep my pens resting on that little shelf on the dashboard infront of the speedo for ease but sometimes the pens make a break for freedom just as i am about to pick them up to fill out my paper work :imp: and the fall into that gap :exclamation:

and once they have fallen in they are IMO bloody hard/impossible to get out, well with my fat fingers :blush: :blush: normally i end up pushing the pen further down into the steering rack and it vanishes for ever :frowning:

i did it twice today, 2 good pens i’ve lost and i had none left so i had to slice my finger open and write my end tacho mileage in blood :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

short of ripping out the dash is there anyway to retrieve these or not :question: :question: if i loose anymore i rekon i’ll soon be over weight on the front axel even when empty :exclamation: :exclamation:

i was drivin a volvo fh and i have the steering wheel raked right forward and i was sat tipping in newcastle an i dropped my fone down the gap between the wheel and dash i was away for a further 2 days and could hear it ring every now an then haha, couldnt get back without removing the bottom half of the dash !!

needs something put over the space !!

On my old DAF 95 XF had exactly the same gap. I dropped a lit ■■■ down it one night… The indicators and other steering column controls started playing up shortly afterwards… oops!

I’d been for a wash and left some soap underneath it.Which i realized as i was driving along,so i started messing with it and it fell off.
Moral of story,Always rinse or you’ll get a soapy Ring!!! :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

yeah dropped a pen down there last week 20mins to strip rmove pen and re assemble pain in the arse …

Have e-mailed Daf askin if they would place a rubber mat to cover the gap like on the Scania :wink:

i have never lost anything down the steering column bit but i do have one of those cab trolls that come free with every DAF XF that moves things in the night and hides it, like my bluetooth headset is a regular, i always put it on the tray on top of the dash (so i know where it is) but every couple of mornings its not there and i spend 10 minutes looking for it and then the troll puts it back on the tray while im looking else where for it!

nope i drive a cf and my pens are kept in the cubbyhole above the radio. saying that i do have a lot of trouble losing stuff from the middle tray down the back.
