If I owned a truck company and smokers smoked in my truck on spot sack and deduct from the wages under the wage deduction act of 1984 for the truck to be valleted at the cost of the tramps who stink of foul smoke oodurs.

On a serious note, I think smokers should respect the rules, so what if you are out 4 nights week it is not your truck and others have to go in it … i bet half the smokers dont wash all week either

I agree line up all smokes and shoot them lol

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

has far as im aware , if its a place of work then the smoking ban applies, but im sat at the side of the A1 near berwick, im out 4 nights a week so this is my home and i will smoke when i want to

As long as you get paid to operate the Lorry or be in it its working Place. Its an Commercial vehicle and no Judge will accept your Terms&Conditions :exclamation:
The Company gets anywhy fined if not put according Present Law a Non-Smoking Sticker in your cab on a Place where everyone who enters the Cab can see it

refreshing to see You are a different kettle of fish, bad habit smoking I gave up 6 years ago but nice to see you show respect, when I was on the agency the amount of ash on the floor was disgusting, used to go to the TM and asked for a truck that drivers have not smoked in always got given a truck that a reg driver had who didnt smoke.

I ensured it was as clean when I left as when I got in the cab always wiped over the indicator stalk handbrake steering wheel with wipes cleaned mirrors etc.

Hi,

As per AA website on the new laws, you can smoke if you are Sole driver in England and wales, in Scotland it is banned altogether.

Dying breed, you are.

if you need to spend an hour cleaning the cab every day I can only wonder at what you do in there.
Even smoking I never needed more than 5-10 minutes to wipe things down and sweep out the floor.

I smoke regularly in my truck but I’m the only one who uses it apart from when I’m on holiday and a agency driver comes in. I do however when asked to use the smaller lorry that another guy uses give it a good clean at the end of the day. Mine only gets cleaned once a month

the people claiming only i ever drive it seem to be forgeting about when they take their holidays.if theyve been smoking in it for 48 weeks a clean tractor should be hired and paid for out of their holiday monies thus keeping everybody happy why should others have to drive in their stink

I smoke in mine… another driver’s a non-smoker and I have to drive his motor sometimes so at his request I refrain, and am happy to do so.

However, his cab stinks; the only way I can describe it is if you’ve ever disconnected an old washing machine outlet pipe you’ll know what kind of pong I mean. I have to leave the doors open for a minute before taking the truck out. Furthermore it’s filthy inside, mine’s as clean as any wagon that does regular farm deliveries reasonably can be. It’s not just me either, other drivers have complained about his motor but no-one ever moans about driving mine, even fervent anti-smokers.

So why should I have to put up with his stink?

Can you do mine aswell? Hosepipe in the drivers’ side and wipe the dash with a rag , that’ll do nicely. Thankyou.

its not illegal to have poor personal hygiene but it is to smoke in a workplace

soap dodging should also be against the law you have a personal responsability to maintain a good standard. Its a rule in our company hand book.if people smoke when its against the law and others dont wash themselves or clean the work place it simply shows a total lack of respect for others

i always have the window open so the truck doesnt stink and i clean it out after every shift. they did a spot check on both hired units as apparently someone complained about the truck. the shunter knows only i have driven it this week so he thinks it was a miscommunication and the complaint was me asking the contractor who washes the trucks down twice a week to make sure he washed my unit. the feedback from my cab was ‘immaculate’. they wanted the hired units kept clean which is why they are the only allocated units. i take pride in my truck and the fact that they asked me to drive it so i keep it spotless

I smoke like a chimney and spend at least a week out at a time, my boss has commented on how clean I keep my truck and how nice my cab smelled, so it has SFA to do with smoking, it has to do with personal hygiene and standards :bulb:
