Can’t help you myself with your quest but there sure will be one of the lads on the SOM site will be glad to,as long as its not a photo of the rear of a Big J cab showing the back two cylinders of an 8LXB that you require!! If that were the case----dream on there isn’t such a shot in existence, contrary to what certain parties may have you believe!! Good luck,Bewick.

Here you go…

Or, if you want something different…!! The only Big J in these colours.

Bigger for you…but lost a bit of clarity…

Hi got a phone call this morning from an old mate who drove for smith of maddiston in the 1950s…60s His name is harold dormer from stirling ,his dad was jack dormer, the other drivers were alan paton jimmy mcnaughton .Harold was a trailer man with his dad, He was wondering if anyone knows these names (long time ago). They were based in the original som depot at maddiston, He said something about his dad being injured when the load moved while he was tightening the dwangs going down (many corners) .might jog someones memory.

Aye I have tried the lot, but I only used the gooduns regularly, the ones that could fry an egg with no lace curtains around the edges, & bacon that tasted the way it should,I could name some places that couldnt boil water without spoiling it, & I still enjoy a good breakfast. Regards Larry
