Any of you guys work for anyone that still does this type of work?
I used to use Brian Harris to arrange pickups and drops into that area but since his passing find it a bit of a pain to do so.
J G Stamper are still doing this but don`t go down there very often.
Any other suggestions?
How small is a “small machine”?
Try Mike Ellis at ELLIS TRANSPORT, CAMBRIDGE, GLOUCESTERSHIRE. He seems to be doing agricultural machines to the North.
Isn’t there a guy called Bryn Jones that took on some of Brian Harris’s work?
Edit… Yep, there is… Google it - he’s based near Newton Abbot
Reive & Grossart from Abington could maybe be interested they worked hand in hand with Brian Harris.Eddie
Or try Bigjoe on here.
Try Tom Mckie at shireagri based at glenluce they used to come down south
How small / weight etc etc , is there a delivery deadline ? .
The machine is 7ft x 4ft x 4ft and weighs a wee bit less than two tonnes.Going to a place called Gweek which I think is 10 -15 miles past Truro.
Prefer it to stay on the lorry that collects it as it would be easily dropped of a forklift and is not the best of things to sling.
Can be loaded anytime between 6am and 10pm.
No rush as I need to get the cheque and clear it first.

Sounds like you need to have the machine placed in a packing case /crate and send it via one of the pallet networks , otherwise I think it will cost you a fotune .
Try Evans transport from Barnstaple ! They are in Scotland Pretty much every week. Don’t know number off top of my head.

Goonehilly
stan the man or evans would be a good bet
Just an update on this.
Stan Robinson only do pallets according to their Glasgow depot.
Evans of Barnstaple referred me to theyre Scottish depot for a price. She said she would need to call me back. She did call back and sounded very embarrassed when she told me she had to call Barnstaple for a price on a job like that and they had told her to ask for £1200.She didn
t need telling it was a silly price.
I gave it to Allelys who I have been using for these jobs for about a year.
How much did they charge then . . I cant be the only one wondering can i ?

A more interesting question would be what do drivers think it costs? Owner operators will know, but how many of you who drive only and don`t get involved in pricing will even have give a thought to what the various loads you do are worth to the vehicle owners?
