"Small but Sweet" UK DIARY

Alright then ex-pats…Attention please… Here’s a quick insight in to what you lot have been missing over here in the UK… Basically [zb] all but pictures speak louder than words so here goes… (Part 1)

(Part2)…

Be interested to read a long diary if you make one.

Was good though.

Nice going lad.
Don’t go speeding in that Transit mind, the Vostapo up here have been doing drivers for speeding when they see their tacho cards!

I’m sorry … I think I missed some of it, my mind locked on the full english breakfast and that was it

I thought they couldn’t use a tacho as evidence of speeding if no accident has happened.
Nice looking breakfast you have there duck.

nice read duck.
those straps on the bug. is that the norm in strapping cars these days?
i’ve never done it, (yet) and woud be interested to know, ta

Yep, industry standard choker straps.
4 wheels, 4 straps, no exceptons!

Yes, that’s how we do it… On the picture of the N/S, the front tyre needed some air so I removed the strap to make it a bit easier… If you end up doing this kind of thing on a regular basis it’s worth checking the condition of the inner wall on each tyre before you put the strap over… I’ve sliced my hand before on bald tyres with exposed cords/wire…

Great pics there Mr D but I’m just wondering if you got lost on your way to the airport for your latest adventure lol

Now then boyo!!  I don’t know what’s happening yet, I’ve become friends with a Kiwi ex-pat who’s got links to STL Linehaul in NZ and I guess if things don’t work out with this recovery lark I could always go back there…Might be the owner of a 1980’s Scania V8 recovery truck soon, want to restore it back to it’s former glory… That should occupy me long enough to get through the Winter blues but there’s no telling for sure with an unpredictable [zb] like me!! I might end up in the departure lounge tomorrow!!

thanks :grimacing:
so big strap goes up and over the wheel, then secured forward and back.

You soon get itchy feet duck lol ill go see Dave Foder and put in a good word for you might even arrange to take you on your mentor trips lmaoooo

Couldn’t see him pulling a fridge about in an auto truck, he might prefer my oversize loads with the 18 speed crash box Pete.

You’ve got a pretty valid point there actually Mick, I tried the whole fridge/curtainsider type job in a brand new 8x4 Auto Kenworth in NZ and it just wasn’t my thing… Lot’s of people would have given their right arm for the same opportunity but I just couldn’t work like a robot. I guess low loader-type stuff is more my forte. The Scania V8 deal has now fallen through but I’ve found a Volvo FL that could be a decent alternative.

If I escape again this is what I had in mind:

Foden.jpg

Jungle reunion with my old Foden… Heard it’s had another rebuilt engine and two clutches since I left the firm… Can’t beat 3rd World labour!!
Malaysia Boleh!! :grimacing:

I love an old plastic pig.

Good stuff Duck, more pics of breakfast though please

Was being sarcastic mick lol

Just got the old girl back from the signwriters…
Getting the rest of the fleet done next week…
Easier for you lot to spot me now anyway…
(N.B. I’m not the miserable old git that usually drives this, I’m the good looking one…Honest!!   )

Nice breakfast :sunglasses:

I sometimes use one those Radicals when I play Forza on the X Box, fast little things, wouldn’t mind a blast round a track in a real one
