Slovakia toll system

Hi all, hope everyone is good?

Im off to slovakia later, bratislava, and i need some advice on their toll system… i know it used to be a vignette but i heard it has changed now to a go box system? like austria?

If anyone has any info/tips about the toll, parking, the sunday ban, all would be most welcome

thanks people x

Not been there since Vignette days but Wiki confirms they use electronic tolling now.

Slovakia
Vignettes are obligatory for all vehicles of up to 3.5 tons passing through Slovak motorways. Vignettes for heavier vehicles were replaced with distance-based electronic toll collection in 2010. Drivers without a valid vignette are charged with cash fines between €100 and €500.[7]

thanks man, so i can just buy a pay as you go toll box from the border like i do the austrian go box?

There are two types ! A rental box which you hand in on exit from Slovak or you you can buy a box outright ! Quite simple to use. Although it was 2 year ago so may have changed slightly since then.

we went through last december, en route to hungary from czech, and we (20 trucks) all bought vignette’s at the border, as you cant get them in services before or after the border. im not sure if the toll box system is being revised or not, as there has been some hoo ha recently regarding them

The vignette only applies for vehicles transiting the country.
The toll box will be required if you are doing a delivery in the country.
You can obtain the box on a ‘rental basis’ at the border crossings.
You will need to have all the usual vehicle docs with you, as well as cash to put credit onto the box.
The procedure is that you hire the box, at a cost of 50Euro, which is returnable when you hand the box in at your
exit from Slovakia.
You will also have to put credit onto the box to cover the expected mileage you will do whilst in the country. The
vendors are usually pretty good at advising an amount, but whatever you do, don’t put more than 100Euro’s on, as
they will not reimburse amounts greater than 100Euro’s except through a bank account, even if you’ve paid with cash.
The box will need a power supply to operate it, ie, a cigarette lighter socket.
Hope this helps.

If you have a Shell card you can also get your Go Box with that at the border.

If your fuel card is set up for that, then yes, but not all cards are.
