Sloatsburg services

Seeing the post on the British forum bit about cars using lorry spaces at service areas made me think about Sloatsburg NY on the northbound side of 87, they have a 2 storey car park with room for about 600 cars I would imagine, only 12 actual truck spaces which is a bit mean, so although there is a 3 ton limit for the front of the building except for coaches that have 8 spaces next to the building that a few truck drivers who know they don’t stand a cat in hell’s chance of getting in an actual truck space use, the police in the most part turn ablind eye to parking in the coach area because of the lack of room but of busy Friday’s the coach park is full of damm cars, this seems to be because the lazy sods are too bone idle to use the upper deck of the car park, which is always empty. Last Friday I managed to get into a coach spot and grab a meal, came out to find on idiot parked sideways across the rear of my trailer and as I climbed into the cab another pillock with his family of ‘Acidic’ Jews complete with ringlets in their hair parked in front of me :exclamation: I got out and stopped the Z Z Top looking driver and said “You are surely not leaving that there are you ?”
“But where else can I park ?” he asked.
“In the f*****g car park you ignorant lazy git” was my reply.
“Nobody ever spoke to me like that in my life before”
“You havn’t lived then, now move the car or I drive through it” His wife persuaded him to do as I asked

sugar… that’s what you need good sugar…

FFS Pat youve lived in the new world long enough to know its every Americans right to park no more than 10 foot from the door to a shop or truckstop.
I went in to a loves in texas there must of been 100 free spaces yet some good olr boy was sweating cobs and took about 30 shunts to get in a space in the front row.

I see this every day, especially at horrible crap hole Pilots and Loves. In the time its taken myself to drive round the back, spin round, pull forwards in to a bay, walk inside, use the toilet, buy some things and exit the building, they are still burning their clutch out with 90 degree jackknife reverse maneuvers in the front row, without much luck. Bloody oxygen thieves.

Its the same when i park in Walmart. Can park away from one only to come back and find some mooron parked next to me

gotta be the same as sedgemoor services on the M5 southbound…

I try to avoid shopping malls and Walmart’s as some of them don’t like trucks on site, one exception is Walmart in Lynn MA, where trucks can park in the street next to the store, it’s a dead end. I used to stop at a Dunkin Donuts in Ware MA but had to pull into the strip mall across the street, the parking area was always empty at 08.00 am but the guy who owned the bowling alley on the site had a particular hatred for truck drivers, I pulled in there for 10 minutes to get a coffee one morning and he came storming out “You can’t park here” he shouted, “We have a bowling competition today”
“Really ? At 8 in the morning ? I am just going over the road to get a coffee and I will be gone”
“You need to move it now” he said.
“I will be five minutes, there are no cars here, I don’t see the problem”
“Move it or I will call the police”
I could see this was an arrogant non moving git and decided that to save anymore crap I went to get back in the cab to drive out when he shouted “You have no right to hold a licence, you can’t drive a truck safely”
I climbed back out and asked him what he was talking about? he explained that if I had to park there and couldn’t get into DD’s car park I should not drive a truck :open_mouth: I lost it ! “I was just going to move the truck for you but now you have insulted me you can f*** off, I might just take a 10 hour break” I locked the cab and walked across the road to get my coffee and doughnuts, when I came back he had parked a car across the front of my truck about 6 inches from my bumper, the car was actually in the roadway, he stood glaring at me from his bowling alley, I walked to the rear of my trailer and saw a 6 foot gap which he had obviously overlooked, backed up and drove out leaving his car in the road

Massholes behaving in an obnoxious fashion, theres a shock! If only MA and CT could be cut away from the continent, towed in to the Atlantic and sunk.

You can park a truck in just about all the Wallys in MA to shop, they either have a Dunkin or Subway in them but the Subway coffee is usually bad to very bad. If trucks are not allowed to park at a store all night it’s because of a Town noise ordinance and not the store manger, they love them Canadian truckers who come in and buy a weeks worth of groceries.

Charles

Off down to WY and CO this week so looks like maybe a night in the J @ Casper should be fun not… last time was there had to get a driver to move over one so I could fit in with my load of hay on just so I could find a space

There is sinclair with enough parking and a restaurant just 1 exit past the FJ Taffy

When I ran the whole country for a brief period I got a copy of the ‘Next exit’ directory, it was about $14.00 and a must do for the long haul driver, I see them for sale at most Pilots truck stops.

I use the ‘pocket truck stop guide’ which cost about $4 or $5 bucks from a Pilot. I also use an app called ‘DAT trucker services’. Think it was free for both my android and IPhone. Fantastic app, finds truckstops, Walmarts, rest areas, and fuel prices too. It’s been invaluable for me.

There’s no real need Angela, Droid has a ‘places’ app that’s free and you just open it up and it will show everything you want within whatever range you enter.

i can get the stops on my GPS so thats not to bad I use mostly the pilots n J’s coz thats where we fill up so no cost for showers
