Dave Barraclough use to drive for Simon

Hi Dave,
I’m one of the kids that used to hang around Simons place in the mid 80’s. I was the chubby one! lol

Are you the Dave that gave me and Nick a lift to the truck racing that Simon was in?

I remember Dave Barraclough.
He gave me a lift back down to Sinsheim Truckstop one Sunday (late 80’s I think), I’d loaded in Spain on the Wednesday or Thursday (cant remember now) for Heilbronn and could’nt tip till Monday Morning.
He’s a really nice bloke and he made me laugh cos it was’nt MPH on his motor, it was how many ■■■■ per hour he smoked. Cannock down to Dover was about 60… lol.
Is he still about ?, I aint seen him in years.

Hello Pancho, I have no idea if Dave is still about as I haven’t seen him since the mid 90’s, I first met him in 1971/2 when I was a mate on Banbury Building, Dave drove for Richardsons of Coventry then he had a Big J and they were doing some subing for us, and I had to go with Dave as his mate, had a great laugh and our paths have crossed many times over the years.

both simon and dave bara are still about simon has a 3 yr old magnum lowride now and the leyland in storage dave went to work for garry george for abit after simon packed in doing the scan sped work dont think garry and dave seen eye to eye much lol he has been retired for a few years now

Any pictures of simons roadtrain , it use to look cool , wonder what it is like now ■■?

The barra, yes I remember him. He was always working.

I went to the truck racing, it was the first truck race to start here in Donnington Park England ( I Think )

Nick gave me a lift from the Drs in his van the other week. It was good to see him again. He said Simon was doing ok.

Sean, at the moment I cant remember who went with who to the racing, can you enlighten me more pls.

The black truck that raced belonged to Simon but the barra drove it.

Me Simon and his dad went to the presentation in London when he won the yellow truck from the truck magazine.

I remember going to Spain with Simon in his blue merc 814 (W) truck we had to drive over the weekend as the airfreight was on strike at the time. The motor was new but we had the clutch go on it, got it fixed and carried on. We got to fords factory in valencia by 11am should of been there at 8am lol. It was a good time with Simon. We were both shattered after that weekend lol.

Dave, I dont even know whether you are the right Dave that Im on about! lol

The Dave I’m on about had a yellowish mark one Granada (might have been a Consul) at the time?

I remember the black Roadtrain going abroad the Monday after the racing finished. I think it had enough of the cage removed to get the bunk back in, and went out with all the stickers and race numbers still on :sunglasses:
