Siemens VDO resetting to rest

Hi,

Drove a rental today as my usual truck had a defect, exact same model of wagon just a year newer (Iveco). Only difference was, unlike in my usual truck (and any other one I have driven) whenever I turn off the ignition it resets to break mode rather than just staying on other work. As I am used to not having to touch the tacho when going about my drops I completely screwed up my driving record for today as it took me 4 drops until I realised it was resetting to rest.

Is this a common thing?

Its a setting thats adjustable - just call into the digi tach center and pay them £20 to set it to other work - it should be on that anyway but its just a preset when installing the head
cheers
Steve

every truck I’ve driven from 08 plate onward goes straight to rest when you switch off, anything older than that goes straight to other work. I guess they changed the default in late 2007 or early 2008.

It’s quite normal, the default behaviour can be reprogrammed but as it’s a rental vehicle I wouldn’t have thought it was worth your company bothering.

You soon get used to changing the mode to other work when you turn off the ignition.

my 08 plate man defaults to break when you switch it off…you soon get used to it…but i used to do agency work for a firm that had a new fleet in 2008…the first batch of trucks went to other work…the batch that arrived later in the year went to break… :open_mouth:
