There must be something obvious that I’ve missed, though I have downloaded the manual for this model (DTCO 1381) and read it, plus the Tachomaster Guide and the software simulator but I can’t find the answer.
I’m stationary either in Break, POA or Other Work mode and the ignition is off. Pressing the down arrow from the main display - “standard” as they call it - gives you a summary of driver’s times off the inserted card like this:
But after a few minutes, the display goes to standby (just the time and current mode) and after that to a blank screen. Press any key and it wakes up again but when you access the driver data again (down arrow from the standard display) all the times have gone to zero.
By wandering through the menus (seemingly at random) and or turning the ignition on eventually returns the correct times, but it’s very hit-and-miss and I’ve tried to see if there is some logic to it. But so far can’t.
Any ideas?
Why do I want to do this? Well, to know when my 15, 30 or 45 minutes is up or to work out if I can get to my next point within my hours etc.
Cheers,
Neil E
I’m not sure about the technical reason why this happens but instead of “wandering through the menus” if you leave the display as it is when it shows no times the times will eventually re-appear.
I believe the times probably re-appears when the time clicks over another minute so you won’t have long to wait
By wondering through the menus you take a chance on whether or not the times are displayed when you get back to that particular display, going through the menus or turning the ignition on has no bearing on bringing back the times that’s why it seems hit and miss

Yep, that’s when they reappear.
Ah! Thank you both (as ever). All is explained for as you say, this accounts for the apparent random nature of the problem.

If you don’t want to wait the minute and are keen to crack on as soon as you have clocked enough break, you can go into the menu to Display Driver 1 and choose 24 hour display. Scroll down through that and it will show you the time the unit started recording your break. If that is 15, 30 or 45 minutes, depending on the break you are taking, earlier than the current time on the tacho you are good to go.
Alternatively just leave the ignition on for the duration of your break and the display remains on.
