Showers on P&O Calais-Dover

The question regards if normal car drivers have access to showers on these crossings, would be nice to freshen up before doing battle with the UK road network.

Technically you are supposed to show your ticket for access to the freight drivers facilities but I’m pretty sure that you only have to show it when buying a meal.

Just walk in with your wash bag. Even if challenged I’m sure they wouldn’t have a problem with you using be shower facilities. It’s not like Pioter and Milo’s mates are queuing round the room for a wash.

Cheers

You will never see a stobarts on the boats-they only go on the chu chu

If its one of the 2 new boats you have to scan the ticket barcode to get in. Just hang about till someone else goes in or out.

Just walk in with some drivers, you should be fine to use the showers, nothing worse than driving off the ferry feeling sweaty and smelly, after all you have paid to sail with them, and the hot water bill wont bankrupt them.Bring some flip flops to wear to prevent a foot infection like Athletes foot, i took talcum powder to dry my feet after a shower. If you are a baldy, no need for a shower cap.If wearing a 1970s style mullet hair do, i feel sorry for you  .

Yes, sometimes its propped open but usually have to scan in.

It’s always been open when I used it. Never scanned my ticket.

Not strictly true. I used to regularly use various ferries.

To update this:

On the new boats you can ask at the reception desk on the boat if the freight drivers showers are free and on the older boats I was told that if I upgraded to club class I could shower there, in the end I left it as normal and had a shower when I reached my destination. Sailing to Dunkirk on Thursday with DFDS might try and see what they do.

On DFDS I had never any problems to use trucker’s shower.

If you manage to get on board either the spirit of Canterbury or the spirit of Kent both the shower blocks are outside the drivers restaurant just around the corner.

Noted, many thanks

  sounded a bit dodgy

on the “spirit” boats you need to scan your ticket to get in for a shower, on the “pride” boats you dont. The barcode reader has been working the last couple of weeks now on the spirit of britain.
