Short term work in US

Hi all,
I’m posting this for a friend who does not have t’internet access.
He has an opportunity to go and live with his sister in the US (Colorado) for about 12 months. If its just a holiday then he’ll sell a few things to fund it.
What he would like to know, is what is required to work in the US? Obviously getting a truck licence is a another issue, which he could look into himself once over there. I think this is like a pre-emigratory type trip thing :confused:

I know this is a bit vague, but I told him I would ask the question. As for whether the replies are of any use to him :slight_smile: is anyones guess.

Well…all I can say is if he is planing on staying for 12 months then he will need a visa. You are only allowed to come to the USA on a visitor’s visa for a max of 3 month’s.

As for working I would imagine he would have to apply for a temporary work permit. May I suggest he gets on a computer and visit’s the U.S Citizenship and Immigration Service’s website which should answer all his question’s.
