Sure it was in the mid 70,s dad worked for Fridgelink (Kirby near to Frigo,s ) then Andrews & Bond doing Meat for Halal Meats. I,m sure the other boat was German/Polish big cabins for 2 with washroom, remember going to my bunk and a knock at the cabin door Dad opens it and a crew member gives him 2 long boards. Whats them for asks the young school kid, Dad says put them down your bunk it must be rough out there and this boat has a flat bottom (ex Ice breaker) its going to be a bumpie ride then gets his head down and snores for the next 4/5 hours . Not me, seams like i never slept all the way there. Great times

I remember the St Columba being taken out of service twice, maybe three times per year. This may well have been routine maintenance, but she used to rumble and then vibrate quite badly. When she came back, all was smooth and quiet for a few months.Rumour had it back then that she was reversed onto a sandbank during a training run, damaging a propellor shaft, and putting a bearing housing out of line,so fairly frequent remedials were necessary.
Docking Dover.
Old Sealink at Dover.
Most likely heading out.
Dont know why,but that
s the old B&I Lines Leinster, parked on the Sealink berth in Holyhead.
Pride of Calais atDover.
M.V.Leinster and Munster parked on the River Liffey in Dublin.I think this may have been during a work stoppage, which, inevitably lasted for donkeys years,as it was in the 80`s.
Been on this a few times !! Two dog rolls and a cup of tea…
