The first Partrans driver I met was on the beach by the wreck opposite the caninhas verdes was Norman. We stood by the trucks jawing when there was a lot of screaming down on the beach.which turned out to be that some young nipper had had his end away with some old sort and when it came to pay up he had no money.Happy days

Getting cleaned up in Jaques truckwash in Cherbourg.

Jacques Osmont still runs the Truckwash in Cherbourg Cliff, but has finished JME Transports

Seeing that name of the truck wash guy reminded me of George Osmond who was the manager for PBC Int. Transport aka Frank Allen in Cherbourg in 1973 ish. Any one know what happened to him, also any one remember the guy who had the stretched (merc) taxi who use to ferry us up to the airport to catch the push/pull plane to Hurn when too many drivers for the boat, only took twelve (god I feel old) cheers Buzzer.

I think the taxi driver was called pierre don’t know what happened to him but used to drive like a lunatic. The pilot of the plane used to worry me a bit used to tap the gauges and dials when he was doing his pre take off checks . Remember the bottle of whisky and 200 cigs they used to keep in a flap in the wing great days

Good morning John
George osmont was killed in a car accident with a lorry I think it happened in the docks in Cherbourg ironically.
He was a very nice man and the guy mentioned at the truck wash is his son.

Nice to see Mappo had a lot of birthday wishes on another thread on here.

When I was 16, shipped out on Truckline with this…going to Avaranches. No room for me on the boat so I had to take to the skies! Did that a few times and staying in the Hotel in Sandbanks as well.

Cliff, George Osmont was killed by the train on the dock outer road where the traffic lights are to allow the train to cross the road, George jumped /did not see the lights and the train went into the side of his Granada, Jacques is his son.

This photo is courtesy of Richard Green, who I,m sure many of you will remember.

Oh and thanks for your kind comment Cliff.
