Judging by the contents on the table ,…it must be a “Board Meeting” . :unamused:
Sorry , Tankerjack, but I couldnt resist that answer !!

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Youre very welcome Cattle wagon man , hope your in good health and keeping well , I got stuck in Seal Sands on Thursday night with all that bad weather , they closed the Simon storage terminal because the sea tide was exceptionally high , I eventually got loaded at 8pm with Toluene and got over to Penrith at 10-30pm , I had to go back to Billingham on Friday for Nitric acid at Growhow !!!. speak soon tankerjack.

Some more great photos Tankerjack. Love the one of the ERF 8 wheeler black Oil. That looks like a sister tanker to one that ran out of The Haven. Your shot is XJD 372T and The Haven tanker was XJD 370T.

Your model display is excellent. I now have my ERF B Series model to start. May take my a while but will keep you posted.

Hi DCK4168 , Great photos of the ERF fleet , the Seddon Atkinson 200 four wheeler has it got a black oil tank on the chassis , I haven’t seen a Sed Atki 200 with a black oil tank do you have a side view of the vehicle ? , the Scammell Routeman was it still being used , it wll have been the oldest road tanker in the fleet ?. I took photos outside the terminal a few years ago , mainly of the road tankers exiting and returning from the terminal , Ill try and find them. I have a few photos of BP Oil road tankers Ill try and put them on. tankerjack.

Hi Paul ive have found a couple of photos of a 4 wheeler Seddon 200 black oil vehicle. Hope you like them.

Hope you don’t mind.

Thank you - sorry didnt realise they had come out portrait.

Yes they look great , never seen the Seddon Atkinson 200 with black fuel oil tank , looks good , how many road tanks did they have and how long did they stay at Shell Haven , as BP bought the Mobil refinery ?. Did you ever see a Seddon Atkinson 400 8 wheeler with a black fuel oil road barrel ? , my dad he drove the Seddon Atkinson 400 with a White products road barrel , it was very nice inside the cab , it was the best motor in the depot if you compare the Seddon with the Scammells , Leylands , AECs. I do have some photos of the Yelland Terminal and the road tanks when I get the time Ill put some photos on this forum , tankerjack.

I cant give you accurate numbers but upto around 1983/84 i think approximately 20 to 30 tankers were at The Haven most of them being white spirit with just a fuel black oil. Then around 1984/5 BP closed quite a few terminal around the country and transferred vehicles and drivers down to The Haven. I was good friends with the son of one of the drivers who moved down from the Middlesborough Depot. The number of vehicles must have doubled with more Black Oil vehicles. BP invested in the depot installing a truck wash etc. Sadly as the depot grew so they tightened up on the rules and so my Saturday mornings going to work with dad came to and end. I did get one more run with him the Saturday before he took early retirement in the mid 1990’s. The last tanker dad drove was the ERF E14 below. I took this picture when we delivering to a garage in East London.

The Haven depot stayed open when BP took over from Mobil at Coryton Refinery. It was only when they contracted out the road tanker function that they closed the depot and moved it into the Coryton refinery. Sadly it has been flattened now as the old Shell Haven Refinery is being replaced with a new container terminal.

I have not seen a black oil Seddon 8 wheeler but do have a couple of nice photographs of an 8 wheeler white tank and a black oil artic - both Seddons. Both of these were taken at the Thame terminal. I only ever went on a 4 wheeler Seddon with my dad delivering petrol to a very small country garage about 2 miles from where we lived.

Have attached the pics - if you would like to swap any pics drop me an email.

Hello young sir,Im ex Teesport(Middlesbrough) and i wasnt aware of anyone moving down there?we had a Colin Peters he relocated to Heathrow Airport and i cant think of anyone else, most of us went to Stanlow and Jarrow. As for thr SedAk 200s we had a couple of them on LPG,to call them gutless wonders would be a compliment of the highest order as far as 8 wheelers on black oil all ours were AECs cracking motors!! :grimacing:

The driver who came down I’m sure from Middlesborough was a yorkshire man called Robbie Franks - he lived down in Essex with his family for approx 8 to 10 years and when he took early retirement he moved back up to North Yorkshire. I will double check with my dad as to which depot he came down from.

Nice to hear from you.
