The old office building in the background is still there today, however that’s about all that is left.
Two more good pics - did you drive for Shell ? One of my best mates was based at Shell Haven at around the time Shell were using Renualts and ERF’s his name was Paul Nightingale.
One from Hong Kong:
Not been on here for a while but was looking for some pics of ERF C series units and found these two photos, not best quality, but I took them in the mid 1980’s on the A12 near Witham in Essex.
Great Photo Trunkerthree . Last Thursday I went to drivers lunch with my dad. 16 old drivers all from the Haven depot most of whom hadn’t seen each other for twenty years. All came about after I put an article in the BP pensions magazine about my dad and one of his mates going to see an old ERF B series 8 wheeler they used to drive which is now still being used as a recovery truck.
It was great listening to all the old drivers swapping tales of their driving days and old managers etc.
They all seemed to have loved their time as tanker drivers at BP and I’m sure the job isn’t what it used to be.
Hi there DCK…I bet that really was a nostalgic time for all those Drivers… lots of great stories I’m sure…I bet some of them might have some old pictures from their time at BP…I don’t think BP have their own drivers now as I think its gone out to contract like other firms do these days…I did upload a slideshow of pictures to you tube of shell mex and BP terminal at Dunball near Bridgwater which close in 1987…Don’t know if this link will work…Cheers…Bryan

Yes BP still have their own fleet ,just under 300 drivers. The last major to have in house drivers for how long is any bodies guess.
