Hi All
Does anybody know the make of the sheeting system that is popular with the Midland Quarry Products tipper boys. It is a cross between a Wilcox and a George Neville .
It wouldn’t be a Dawbarn Wrapter by any chance would it as they are the main 3 suppliers, there is also Transcover & Harsh who do them
Hi Lymer
They are not Dawbarn Wraptors, they look like Wilcox’s own sheet but are fixed by bungy cord along the top rave one side like a George Neville sheet.
Do you mean the type with the electric screw ram in each profile? had a fair few dealings with these which are poor to say the least!
Hartal bodies ltd, 01530 817687 give these a ring Duncan is the chap to speak to, think they build a fair few bodies for the MQP hauliers

is this the type you mean? though this ones hit a tree and got badly bent, I repaired it and it ran for abut a year but it was never the same again, it’s been scrapped now and changed for another type

Hi Moose
That looks like it if it’s fastened down one side with bungy cord.
It’s nearly identical to the Wilcox one.
I don’t particularly like the Dawbarn sheets wraptor or hydo clear.
The hydro clear with that crappy strap system and the sheet stops forever getting
Knocked down and bending.
I like the George Neville sheet on a rigid and it’s alright for a aggregate trailer.
Looking for something that would be ok for a bulker trailer that is weather proof and
Doesn’t look tatty after a year. What’s you’re preference?
yes bungee cord down one side, I believe these have altered now as the rams/screws in the profile are very week, as I said in the other post this has now been scrapped as it was always broke down, the new trucks that have been coming have all been fitted with Wilcox bodies and sheeting systems that are air operated, they have large air rams in each profile, one problem I have noticed is that the webbing straps at each end of the sheet itself seems to shrink with the limestone dust and then the sheet wont fully close which means that the locking pins at the back and front don’t engage without help ( these are a must in windy weather)
once the newness wears off these Wilcox sheets also suffer not rolling up properly which means they can hang down inside the body which you need to keep an eye on.
also there is a real George Neville easy sheet which has not caused any major problems though all the systems with arms at each end wont stand being operated whilst the vehicle is moving for long!
the most simple system in my opinion is like the type in the pic on the 4 wheeler which works well on trailers with 3 straps(front back and middle) the only problem is the straps wear and can snap if you don’t change them soon enough, I would not even consider a front to back system on tarmac!
Thanks Moose have you any experience of the Harsh version of the side to side with 3 straps sheet? It looks simpler than the dawbarn version because it does away with the hydraulics’
no not had owt to do with Harsh side to side, as you say the system could be made simpler

Hi Lymer

I know which system you mean now, I believe it is a Wilcox as they do 2 different types of sheet one runs on electric (i.e screw motor) the other is either air or hydrualic with rams… apparently these are quite a bit dearer too.
Hi Lymer
Wilcox must supply to other body builders as I have seen them on all makes of bodies.
Don’t know if they scale them up for trailers.
I would not buy one if they did, the one in the pics above is fitted to a Rouse body and its the one with the lightweight electric screw rams inside, these rams are operating right on their limits even when the thing is new, add a bit of wear and there useless, the ones with the air rams in each profile look the same externally but are far more robust
