I think you will find that in Europe aldi tip the truck for you,NOT the driver, unless they changed it last week !..
It’s the bloody idiot drivers in this country that let them get away with it,same as Tesco Snodland, takes ages…Then YOU muppets let them keep the key to your house (truck) whilst you sit in a dirty smelly waiting area not fir for a dog !!
Get real
How can you complain about tipping yourself and then complain about having to sit in a waiting room for someone else to do it?
Worst of all you are the one calling the rest of us muppets for dragging the job down to the level of idiots…
On containers, we rarely self tip, only aldi and lidl.
BUT, we used to get £15 for tipping at those on top of our wages, and could be done in under an hour, the blue eyed boys used to fight over tipping there.
Went to a co-op once and got told I was in the back helping, told them where to go, they said I wouldn’t get tipped, a few hours later after several phone calls, they tipped me whilst I slept, then they got slapped for the demurage too, I’d arrived on time, they fluffed about and I was there around 6hrs or so.
Malc44:
Once you backed onto a bay you then had to go in search of an electric pallet truck and tip yourself…
Are you trained to use one of those? - I ask as I’ve seen some pretty horrific incidents where untrained personnel have used them !!
Oh FFS ROG, next you’ll be suggesting that my kids have to go on a two-week course before they are allowed to drive a dodgem car at the funfair.
It’s not rocket science. There is a two-position switch which makes it go forwards and backwards, and a two-position switch to raise and lower the forks. If you are really in a daring mood, there is a hooter.
What is up with you H&S people?
And to the rest of the moaning minnies, if you did a bit of exercise from time to time, you wouldn’t look like Moby ■■■■’s fatter brother, would you?

now now Harry we don´t want to go taxing certain brains with too much technology now do we ?
have they changed the system there then ,you used to get tipped on a bay, then pull off, park up and go to sleep, read a book etc and go and get paper work when it was ready[thats if you wernt self tipping],i cant remember anyone having to sit in room waiting for paperwork.i often used to get there see loads of trucks parked opposite bays thinking they were waiting for 1,when you asked them they were waiting for paperwork.
No, the system’s the same but based on my experience, if you offer go in the warehouse and help, your trailer is often tipped and split down while the doors are still closed on the others’ loaded trailers.
Sometimes, if they see you showing willing, more than one of the warehouse staff will come and help.
Like everywhere else, some shifts are better than others.
You do have to wait in that manky room while your trailer is tipped unless you’ve gone into the warehouse.
Once you have helped them it’s drop and drive,at least it was with my deliveries,so you don’t need to waste even more time waiting for the paperwork.
It all depends on whether you want to spend your day tossing it off or actually doing a little bit of work.
In my opinion, of course…
ROG is the worst type of industry parasite, a stuffed suit who makes his living from the stealth taxes imposed on those who do productive work. To suggest that somebody who operates a 44 tonne articulated lorry, with a complicated multi-range gearbox and a complicated braking system, the handling characteristics of which change with every single trailer towed and every single load carried would need training to operate a battery-powered pallet trolley is simply laughable.
I would bet the farm that ROG could not provide verifiable evidence of any of these “horrific incidents” he claims to have seen, which exist only in his febrile imagination, it being in his vested interest to create fear and paranoia for his own financial ends.
we had a h/s woman in our yard the other day and i could here her telling the boss that someone had lifted a trailor by" just using the thing" and that someone else didnt even connect the "thingys" and she didnt think it was a safe practice…
who the [zb] are these people?youd think shed have the decency to actually know what the [zb] she`s talking about before standing there telling people how to run thier buisness.
There is one serious point being missed here, while all you tossers are arguing that it is not your job, other drivers are waiting to get on the bay you are occupying.
Tip it, pull off the bay and wait for your papers. it isn’t difficult. someone else can get on the bays quicker, they may have work to do…

I’m not arguing that its not my job, I don’t have a problem with it whatsoever at least I know it will get tipped quickly if I’m doing it.

Please don’t shout at me,but why o why do we drivers stand for this?..On a visit to Alidi in Middleton today I was told I had to tip myself then put the pallets in the bays according to the item grading…THEN he wanted me to strip on the plastic banding !!>…F off springs to mind !!
Don’t you think if we all stuck together these asses would tip the truck for us as it should be?..Can you really see it in Europe?..NO WAY !!!
you are not insured to tip yourself i just tell them if they dont want it just sign my notes and i will take it back and they will be charged for 2 deliveries plus storage
Yes you are insured, both via your employer and the receiving companies liability insurance.
Still awaiting a topic you actually Know anything about let alone knowitall [/quo at least i dont let people try to convince me that its my job to load or unload
I love self tipping, and for no extra charge I’ll pick their orders and load their motors, then I’ll follow the drivers to the stores and put the stuff on the shelves. After all, we’re just fat lorry drivers who need the free workout

you speak for yourself i bet you are john williams no1 driver
When I worked for a DSV subbie in '09 every customer we went to in Denmark, Sweden, Holland and Germany expected us tip out using a stand on electric trolly. I just thought it was a harmless diversion that got me out of the cab.
Then again, I prefer to take my breaks where I can relax and have a brew or use the toilet and wash my hands. Funny how the drivers who complain the most are usually the ones who tend to take breaks when they tip.

Did a fair bit of work for Allied Bakeries, now that was some fun tipping, dragging bread (about 10 baskets high) up the length of a trailer with a hook, kept me fit though! I dont mind it, now I am on the tanks we connect up ourselves, nice to be out of the cab for a bit!

I better not say anything then about having to climb on top of tanks and getting into a chemical suit and masked up to unload the PCLs then!
some of the posts on this forum show that more and more drivers don’t want to do anything except drive.
they won’t tip with an electric pump truck,
they won’t change a lightbulb so defect everything and wait for a fitter to do the job,
they won’t help out somebody trying to back on a bay or get under a low bridge,
it goes on and on.
when will we see the post “I’m not opening those curtains I’m a driver”
For me it’s a case of principles, it’s not my gear, nor my warehouse, most drivers don’t get extra so I don’t agree with it. I can work anywhere for nothing. And I don’t open curtains either, I’m a container driver
