Self employed?

Can anyone please tell me how long someone can work for one company self employed before they either have to go on the books or work for a different company?

Cheers
Matt

Indefinatly is the real world answer. By means of being adhock no contract in place or a monthly or bi monthly contract

Matt, I think your referring to the ‘12 week rule’ under the Agency Worker Regulations Act 2010. This only applies to PAYE employees of the agency., hence why most agencies now use either self employed or Ltd Companies. Basically side stepping their legal obligations. I therefore agree with Alix.

Sounds like you’re alluding to something the IR40 legislation was meant to put an end to. IR40 has done nothing for people forced into self employment under tenuous terms. If it had then Ryanair and it’s pilots would be in the headlines. As per, HMRC/legislation goes after the little guys and ignores the causal reason. If there was a box in the ballot marked ‘you all, the whole lot of you parties, are ■■■■■ from the same batch with different flavours’ I’d mark that. Rant over
